WTF? Went to a gas station and made a purchase. 30 min later I get a text, attempted fraud, $205 @ walmart. I declined it and now my card is locked.
Why even have a card? It's useless. Gonna just have to go back to cash I guess.
And these thugs never ever get caught. I wish I could find them and bring them down in my basement and tear their skin off their face with my fingers. Tired of this Crap.

Get a .475 Wildey and just start dishing out street justice in your area of operations. You wanna make an impact you gotta kill the giggler.

Where you shopping at? big name gas stations or small shitty ones?

Yeah I got to stop going to this gas station. It's an Indian type gas station, not a shell or Mobil or anything. I need to just go to the ATM and get out cash.

Reads like the "attempted fraud text" was phishing?
Screw that gas station.

I lived in Houston for years, loved this indian gas stations tacos for breakfast. jacked my card twice. Went to using cash there. also using my CC for all of my monthly expenses, pay off monthly. problems went away.

Yep, the issue is, society caters to these people. Nothing happens to them. I wish I could have 5 minutes in my basement with them. Wifes wallet got stolen at work 3 weeks ago. Need to get the hell out of Worcester. Had it.

Guy I work with says fraudsters use his Bank of America card more than he does.

CC is good for gas stations…prepay, pump and leave but I’m with the guys who say debit is for ATM only. My only problem is my cc and debit are almost identical…tried to make an atm w/d with my cc once, hilarity ensued when I went inside the bank to complain.

I caught one once. Wife left the card in the atm and drove off. Duh…. I called my bank, got a print out of all charges from that point forward. Highlighted the amount, date, time, locations of fraudulent charges. Called the state police and explained everything, he swung by and got the paperwork and went to the first store and watched footage. Recognized the shit head and picked him up. Dumb ass was high, armed, and had drugs on him as well. Bank refunded everything. Oh- after she drove off , shithead walked by and saw the card and grabbed it. He started hitting all the stores in walking distance.

If you’re going to pay at the pump, it’s good practice to grab the card reader and move it first, like really try to see if the thing moves. Thieves were putting readers over the existing readers that looked like they belonged there, if you feel one move at all, don’t bother using it.

I dealt with this about 5 years ago, 3-4 cards over the course of 6 weeks. Hasn’t been an issue since, but you can be damn sure I grab that reader before putting my card in it.

Well actually it wasn't the gas station. Bank said they tried 3 separate times, once before I went to the gas station. But I did go there on Monday.

So in basically there is a thin card reader that goes over the existing card reader? I should know this being in IT, but out of the loop. This was in store, not at the pump.

The two I found were plastic boxes that mounted onto the existing reader, held on by a magnet. It looked like it belonged on there and had I not seen reports about it happening all over the city I wouldn’t have checked.

Here’s a video covering a bunch of possible ways they get your card, though, it might be helpful-

My bank told me theres no recourse with debit cards.

Only CC have banking protection.

I cut mine up long ago
