Can a jvm do metal well? Like more modern stuff.... Also how is the build quality?

I've never owned one, but I've played quite a few. JVM can definitely bring the heaviness, not sure if by modern you just mean newer or the detuned stuff, but I reckon it can do both, especially with a decent boost/EQ/OD/etc.. Build quality? My guess is it's fine but nothing amazing. I'm sure some of the amp experts here can elaborate.

Pretty sure Code Orange is using JVM's. I've played on them a couple times and they can definitely get heavy. A boost helps, but not required depending on what you're going for.

OD1 and OD2 are great for metal, but I don’t know if modern metal.
More like thrash. Honestly, for modern stuff I am happier with a 6505.
And for the price of a used 410h, you can get a used 6505 and a mesa 4x12.

There are dudes on here that love their JVMs so take note of their valid opinions too. :D

Never could gel with the JVMs. OD1 not too bad though. JVM205 2 channel would be where it would possibly work for me. If someone gave me 410 I'd sell it. It was on my list along with 5153 a JCM and some other stuff and the Splawn Quick Rod ended the quest the moment I plugged in. Safe to say the build quality of the JVM is not going to be a good either. Just peak inside.

I didn't care for the heavy metal tones - which was the deal breaker. Red was pretty much unusable for me. Just an opinion though.

Im just not meshing with the peters i just got so im weighting out my options

Can you provide an example of the "modern" metal you are talking about?

What Peters model do you have?

JVM wouldn’t be my go to for chuggy stuff, although it can do it. I’d look at any 5150 variant first, also ENGL, Fryerte, KSR, Revv, all would be better IMO.

Im just suprized no one wants to swap a dual rec for the peter to be honest..... If i cant off it im gonna end up having it modded and that will kill any value it has

Yep; don’t get me wrong. I dug my 410h a whole lot and kinda wish I had it again,
but for modern metal I am happier with the 6505. I probably would favor a Qr
Over the JVM for modern stuff because it can get really percussive

I picked up a used JVM205h a couple months ago and was completely blown away. Straight in it was "ok and nothing special" but the orange mode on channel 2 with my pedalboard sounds amazing. Full, heavy and 3d sounding. It can do metal for sure, 100%.

Guitar -> OD -> EQ (frowny face) -> JVM -> EQ (smiling) -> time effects -> JVM ->Suhr Reactive Load ->IR's
Master volume around 11:00 o' clock
Best $800 I've spent in a LONG time...

Turn your gain down again. I told you in the FB messages, you can't use that much gain on the amp and also boost that much. The sound you're trying to get (I listened to that band on Youtube) has less gain. It just sounds more modern. So you want the modern attack but not nearly as much gain.

Set your gain at maybe 30%. Edge switch: to taste (you might need it). Crunch: maybe (depending on what your boost pedal does). Then boost with a pedal but don't boost too much! Add some gain from the pedal to make it more "modern" sounding, and some treble for bite.

Ive been playing for 25 yrs man and have owned 100s of amps i know what i like and this just cant do it so im selling or trading it no big deal its part of the game

That's the 50W version, not even the 100W version. And you're using 6L6 tubes. Trust *me*, you're doing it wrong.

And as I asked you before: what amps have you not been able to get a "tight metal sound" with a good boost?

For that matter: have you ever gotten a "tight metal sound" with any of these amps you owned?
