Perhaps it is not a that super interesting setup, but I have spent the evening with listening to this cab shootout:

Currently I was looking for a used mesa cab but somehow I really dislike it in that vid. Probably it is not the best amp choice for this cab? Anyways, the Marshall cab is my favourite, the Peavey is too scooped and imprecise with those settings.

That's a pretty accurate representation of those cabs under a mic. If you don't like the scooped sound of the Standard Recto cab, check out a Traditional. MUCH different sounding cab.

load the V30s into the Peavey, and it will sound completely different i think. the speakers are probably what make it so scooped. but i could live with the Peavey, and the Marshall sounded good as well, but the Mesa didnt do anything for me. cool comparison!

I owned a marshall 1960A and 5150 cabinets at the same time when i was playing in bars. Still own two peavey 5150 cabinets.

I would say those are all fair recordings of what they sound like under a mic, however in person the 5150 cabinets sit better in a mix to my ears in a live setting compared to the marshall. The mids in those 5150 cabinets seemed a bit dark which neither of mine experienced when mic'ed next to my marshall with 65's. I preferred the 5150 cabinet(s) to the marshall and sold the cabinet a few years ago. The cabinets themselves are great - birch baffles and center post stud. I am selling both of mine at the moment as well - not gigging anymore and do not need them. If they do not sell by Christmas i am loading them with eminence/V30s and will just continue to rock them hard.

That is a good comparison, I dig the Marshall but the Mesa is better to my ears.
Peavey was ok sounding.

Hopefully I can get my hands on a Traditional cab so I can finally hear it in person.
