Gonna grab a 4x12 for my Metro Plexi. A local shop has a Bogner Uberkab loaded with Greenbacks. Anybody know if this cab (construction, dimensions, etc.) is different from the standard Bogner cabs? Or is the only difference that they usually load it with V30's and G12T's?

If not the Bogner cab, any other suggestions? I'm pretty sure I'll go with either G12M's or G12H's for speakers.

Hey... Jim from Scumback makes a perfect 4x12 perfect for that amp. Give him a pm, or just ask anyone on the boards. I am going to be buying 2 loaded when I get my cash flow back in order.

They're a little pricy for me. $800 unloaded or $1400 loaded. That's a bit much. Especially when there's a bogner local to me for 600 and a 70's Marshall for 800. Thanks for the tip, though. :)

IMHO you need to have either English Greenbacks, Webers, or Scumbacks.

the Chinese greenbacks just aren't the same.

do your homework for cabs with English speakers, or score a good deal on a cab and swap speakers.

the new EVH cabs are good from the get go. maybe the Handwired., etc. old cabs.

i run Bogner cabs loaded with Webers and English 12-65's.

Is there REALLY that big of a difference between English/vintage Greenbacks and new ones? Worst case scenario, I get the Bogner cab and maybe down the line in a few months sell the Greenbacks and get English/vintage ones. But tell me what's better: V30's I have now or Chinese Greenbacks?

yes the deference is really there!

tough call between the Chinese greenies and V30's. i still have some Chinese greenies, but haven't heard them in about a year and half or more. i'd guess the Chinese greenies would be better with the Plexi, but not worth the effort to swap?

I've been using a Mojotone 4x12 with Reissue Greenbacks for years. Works very well.

Orange cabs sound great with Marshalls, imo.
I like Vrad's suggestion also. Mojotone makes great cabs.

I prefer my Bogner XTC cab over my Marshall cab but that is just my opinion.

Oh man, I'd love one of those black Orange cabs. They come with G12K's. I could use those with my Diezel in the Mesa 2x12 and throw some Greenbacks in the Orange in an X pattern. I wonder what that would sound like?

Jlbaxe, the Bogners have that padding/foam on the back, right?

It's hard to beat a Bogner cab loaded with anything, but I'd jump on a Marshall cab for that head for coolness factor.

Def look at the Marshall cab, which speakers in that??

in this market, the $600 for the Bog, and $800 for the Marshall are both about a $100 high or more.

for regular old V30 type cabs, the $4-500 range seems more like it.

Yeah I just had to have a Marshall half stack…. +1 on the coolness factor  But for sound/tone Bogner.

The Marshall cab is a '73, good condition with Creambacks, 25 watt, 55hz.

I think I can get them both to come down on the price no problem. The guy with the Bogner said he may be willing to trade for my Jackson Dinky with EMG's. I don't really use it much and I think I have about 400-500 into the guitar. So it's a good trade for me. But I'd have to gut the V30's in the cab, sell them and then buy Greenbacks. So, it's a lot of work. A local store also has a new Bogner Uberkab loaded with Greenbacks. But, I'd be paying "new" prices...

To date, the best sounding 4x12 that I've heard is a Splawn...I liked it better than any of my Marshalls which I liked better than my old Bogner. They're priced reasonably as well.
