I bought this Mesa Boogie Rectifier Road King cabinet and it came with 5 speakers, 3 16 ohm Celestions and 2 8 ohm Boogie MC90's, all for $220.00. The jack has a 2 8 ohm inputs or one 4 ohm input jack. My initial thought was to put 2 16 ohm EV12L's in the closed side and 2 16 ohm celestion G12M 75's in the open side and run it like it comes.
But then I thought about the way I'd use it and I like 8 ohm cabinets pretty much. I'd never use it one side only. I'd wire the cabinet with 2 8 ohm EV12L's in the closed side and 2 Boogie MC90 8 ohm speakers in the open side for 8 ohm only. Currently I have a combination of speakers in 1X12 and 2X12 cabinets and would use this cabinet by itself with a 1X12 personal monitor wedge so I can hear myself at todays neutered volume levels. All of the cabinets are 8 ohm which is good for my power amps which have 4 4 ohm outputs. But, I do have conventional amps also. 2 8 ohm inputs works well with most amps for the way I want to wire it, whereas a 2 8 ohm or one 4 ohm input would be a one and only cabinet if I use a regular amp.
What would you do?
I did buy a large slice, 30" X 36", of wicker for it, a 4X12 wicked wicker Rectifier RK cabinet and have started to put that together for tomorrow. The Tolex is in rough conditon so I will do that over once I decide what covering I want.

The wicker still has to dry, it will tighten up nicely.

The Black Shadow speakers are in it but I had to leave for band practice so I couldn’t wire it or bring it

Finished, ready to rock
I wired it series parallel so if a speaker dies, the amp will still see a load.
