If i disconnect the combo  speakers, and use the external speaker jack only....will the output be 30 watts @ 8 ohms? I think i read that somewhere...does anybody know for sure?

If its 30 watts @ 8 ohms into the 12 inch speaker in the combo it will be the same. The difference in sound and maybe loudness will depend on speaker type used and open or closed cab etc.

You can run it one of 3 ways.

Keep internal speakers connected, put 16 ohm cab through external jack.
Disconnect internal, use 16 ohm cab through internal jack.
Disconnect internal, use 8 ohm cab through external jack.

I was confused about this for years lol. Not any more, though.

External jack does not silence internal speakers if you leave internals connected.

I dont think running only the external jack makes it 30 watts....but I dunno.

The thing is the combos speakers are connected to the amp via a 16 ohm output (2 8 ohm speakers in series)...but you can disconnect those from that main jack and just use the external speaker jack....but i wanted to know if the wattage really drops when doing that...

Also raf...are the legend v12 speakers good in the combo or should i get a different speaker replacement? You have experience with this amp so please do tell

why would the wattage drop?

the wattage will drop the the combo by default if you hook up a cab in parallel to it ...but only if that cab matches the ohms properly.

ie, an 8 ohm cab and the 8 ohm internal speakers = a 16 ohm load

but if you hook a 16 ohm cab up with the internal 8 ohm load, you're going to get a mismatch and the total ohms drawn will be 5.33 ohms from the power amp...or for a safe setting = 4
and in this case, more power will be diverted to the cab with lesser ohm rating and will be louder.

t75s work well with 5150 amps. so do the stock ones.

^^^ This is correct

The amp is 60 watts no matter what speaker output is used...

Yea, 60 watts. I ran the external out to an 8ohm cab, and disconnected the internal speaker. Thing was MONSTROUS! One of the best metal tones I've ever heard.

Yeah, I dont think the wattage drops...it was actually always louder through a 412 anyway.

The V12s are my favorite speaker in the combo, whether you are using them in an external 412 or internally. K100s gave it more low. Ear Candy green machines sounded just like the sheffields, as did greenbacks. Swamp thangs were too dark and had too much low end to the point of being uncontrollable. Black powders just sounded like shit in every possible way.

But it all depends on what you want when comparing to the stock speakers...You more balanced tone with a wider sound, tighter, and clearer? V12s. You want more low end and clarity? K100s.

If it was me, Id get V12s...especially considering that I have a pair of V12s in my 5150 212 right now :D.

The sheffields actually arent that bad in it, either.
