Working on my Youtube/Audio Video production "skills" and decided to do a 3 way shootout between these 3 amps. It's still rough, but doing more videos like this should help me learn.

The invective is pretty neat, and although I didn't love it at first, I can see it really working for my Drop C stuff with the upper mid emphasis and overall clarity. It is quite compressed, even when compared with a 5150.

All 3 amps were ran through the Same Friedman V30 IR

All 3 amps had EQ settings at 6-6-6- with resonance at 6, presence and gain to taste

All 3 amps were boosted with an MXR M77

 
Great shootout.
I liked the Stealth the best.
That Invective seemed to have a lot of clarity though, I'd love to try one. :yes:
 
I don't know why the invective is not more popular with all those awesome features built in!
 
I think the Invective isn't all that popular because people think of it as "Peavey 6505 with built-in boost for $1,800."

Yes it has 2 loops, half-power switch, built-in noise gate and more, but that's kinda people's gut reaction to it.
 
That Invective sounds kinda meh after hearing that Stealth... Nice comparison
 
Came into this thinking I would like the Invective the most, but the Stealth wins it for me. Most of the Stealth clips I have heard to date are a gained out mess but this one sounds really good.

That was basically my take on it before playing it. Misha said they started with a a 5150 and Tweaked it to his liking, which is the part that I think is lost on most people. It's definitely more upper mid heavy, more compressed and cleaner sounding overall. Not a direct 5150 with features built in, but not super far off either

Tanks man! Appreciate it. I even felt the clips reflected too much gain after watching back but I left as is. The stealth has the most note articulation of the 3, no doubt.
 
I might move the Bogner 3534 and pick up a Stealth. I like more of a Marshally crunchy brightness and the 3534 sounds great, but maybe still just a touch dark for me. The Stealth sounded pretty good here.

I can tell you with confidence the Stealth doesn't have the upper mid presence/brightness of anything Marshall based, it's still very modern. Not sure if you saying that was in direct connection, but figured I would point it out!

The Stealth is pretty different than a Marshall. You can get plenty bright with the treble and presence, but the voicing of the amp just sits it in a different spot. The feel is pretty different too.
 
JVM410 vs. EVH Stealth. I own both. As others have posted the Stealth doesn't quite get that mid punch or the cut of the Marshall. Ive been able to dial them close but the Stealth is still going to have a lower mid flavor. In my experience it compresses a little more, little more sag and just overall a little more bloom on the notes. My JVM is my favorite amp I've ever owned, love it and every time I buy or check other stuff out the JVM is immediately home. That said I think the 50 watt Stealth smokes. Glad I bought it and will hang onto it. I was jonesing for an OG 5150, which I played for a decade back in the 90's but when Ed passed knew the prices were going to get silly. So bought the 50, plus it has midi. Overall it's just a fantastic amp. Cleans are decent, blue channel is on point, boost it, even better. Red has as much gain as anyone would ever need. It's right there with the JVM for having crazy levels of gain on tap. Very much a 5150 at heart, all the pluses, none of the drawbacks of the original. Btw/ I didnt care for the el34 version in fact my experience with that very nearly kept me from buying the Stealth. Been through the Engl Artist, Mezzabarba Trinity, Fryette SigX and now the Stealth lately and it's just a killer amp.
 
Stealth by a large margin for me. Might have to look into that amp.
 
Nice comparison.

I like the Stealth here most, then Invective, then 5150. It's really just splitting hairs they are all good.

Which of the 3 is tightest with no pedals?

Which has the least fizz at lower volumes?
 
Sick shootout! Very well done! Love the riffs!

Only critique is the lighting in terms of seeing your shadow on the amps.... Although in way it at least shows you’re not reamping hehe.

Appreciate the video comparison brother. All three sound great!
The Stealth sounded loudest of the three so the human ear will pick it as the best…
