I know the matching cab comes with the evh/heritage speakers, but I’m curious if any of you all had played a 5150 iii through both the reissue and evh/heritage and if you preferred one over the other and why.

Can't speak for playing the 5150III through those speakers, but have played quite a few amps through an EVH 412 loaded with the heritage and then loaded with 2 heritage and 2 standard GBs in an X pattern. I honestly don't notice a huge difference between the two speakers. Heritage seem a touch smoother/less grit up top with more compression. Really not all that different sounding/feeling to me IMHO.

Right on. Thanks for the info. Do you like it better with the mix or about the same?

About the same I think. the GBs maybe add a touch more grit to the tone that sounds cool, but I liked it just same when it was all EVH speakers too. Both good...just different.

When I had my last EVH 50w I also had the EVH cab...While at the same time I had a 74 1960a with original GBs. Much preferred the original 74; they were 'raunchier' than the more 'polite' EVH with the heritages. Both sounded good though, can't go wrong with either but I'd choose the RI GB. Same feeling with the 5150 III Stealth 6L6 I had later. Original GBs sounded better and raunchier with the 100w as well. Sold the EVH cab shortly after and just ran the 74 Marshall cab with it out at gigs.

I totally agree. I have a 5153 50 I mostly play through a Splawn 4x12 with English GB’s and an old Marshall with original G12-65’s. The 65’s being darker, smoother and fatter, and the GB’s being raunchier and way more pissed. The 50 sounds killer through both, as did the Stealth that I had. Both of them together are the shit. The 5153 50 is already a pissed off little fucker, and through Greenbacks it’s downright furious.
