hopefully someone can help me out, but i just need a 7 pin midi cable to operate the footswitch dont i ?? or is it something specific i need for this amp ??
NO! Don't use a 7 pin midi cable, it's custom for the amp. The amp does NOT send midi commands. Try what I suggested in the previous post. Tighten down the connector screws first to see if it resolves the problem.

it didnt work. i have tried everything, it is definately a cable problem i just need to find one now... who else makes them besides the original manufacturer cuz the cable they come with seems really cheap ...
rjm sells them (the same people that make the mini amp gizmo)

you by chance have a link to the cable or a part number ??

If you are not afraid of the soldering iron, you can make your own. Schematics are available if you google for it.
But as a first run, check the cable with a multimeter for a torn wire.

i tried this last night ... two of the wires are making contact with each other .. i am guessing it is the effects loop wire, and clean channel wire since those are the two that are giving problems

I don't. They have cables but I don't see them listed on the website. However, you could email rjm directly. Also, Mark at Lava cable could make one. He is a very cool guy and responds VERY quickly to emails. Another option would be to contact the customer service @ Fender that is given on the EVH website. I wouldn't do this because then you would be stuck with another cheap cable that would probably break again.

are you sure? Fender told me it wasn't a custom cable when mine went bad. I ran my head with a peavey xxx 7 pin and a dual rec 7 pin and it works fine with the footswitch. I also bought a backup footswitch and cable off ebay for $60.

I tried a standard 7 pin midi cable with my head and it didn't work, and Fender told me it wasn't the same. But hey, if it worked for you than the OP should try it. Maybe mine had something wrong with the female side of the connector in the footswitch itself. I haven't tried the footswitch in about a year now since I change channels via midi now.
