Has anyone performed this? How did it work out? I currently have a 6 screw bridge, but would like to install a Wilkinson WVS50 that I've purchased.

Are you familiar with woodwork? There´s not much margin for error when drilling and pressing those inserts, and at least difficult to get exactly right with hand tools. But sure, back in the day people converted plenty of strats to Floyds, so it can definitely be done perfectly.

I'm fairly familiar with it. I have access to a drill press.

Unfortunately most standard drill presses don't have enough swing to get to the points on a guitar body that you'd want to put a post into. I ended buying a telescoping drill press for that very thing. When I built my first guitar, I used one of those attachments for converting a hand drill into a press. I put a piece of plywood on the bottom of it as a base. It actually works great.

Can you explain exactly what it is, and where I can get one?

Go to woodcraft.com and look for the precision drill guide by wood river.
