After listening to a lot of my 80s CDs, I have decided that Mark Kendall from Great White has some of the best 80s Marshall tone, period. There were other greats, but Mark Kendall's tone was the bomd.

I always liked DeGarmo's and Wilton's 80's tone.

I was only into their first album here are a couple of my favorites from back then

I couldn't listen. Man I hated Great White so bad back in the day. Cheesy singer, terrible songs, TERRIBLE lyrics. Yuck.

I liked their early stuff too. Somehow I didn't realize, or maybe remember that Street Killer made it onto an album. I remember hearing them work that tune out in the rehearsal studio next to Woodstock in Anaheim back when only their EP was released. I've also got fond memories of seeing them as Dante Fox when Don Costa played bass for them with his infamous cheese grater mounted to the back of his bass. Dude was a nut. They were a rockin' band back then. I enjoyed them more as a hard/heavy rock band than the bluesy rock style they turned towards. The EP was great.

I wasn't a big Great White fan either. I saw them in the clubs in LA a couple of times. The singer had a great voice but wasn't as pretty as most singers that were making it big were. That would be a shame if the rest of the band wasn't so pedestrian. All in my opinion of course.

As for great 80's Marshall tones, Mark Kendall's tone never once made me take notice of it.

Ditto, in fact I always thought it was dumb that Jack didn't ask me to replace Mark and keep the band heavy/hard rock. :D

That would have been cooler IMO!

I saw Great White open up for Judas Priest back in the day. That was on their very first album. I had never heard of them before, but they were really good.

I was never a huge fan, but they kicked ass that night!

:)
