thats tempting... can confirm that a well set up LP studio can certainly hold its own, tone wise, with the higher end LPs.
 
Dude!! My friend got one of these around 1990, and I kid you not, one of the best playing and sounding Les Pauls EVER!! I put a handful of ales Pauls up against his studio and it hung with every one of them!! His had a killer ebony fretboard and I loved his guitar!
 
i had a 96 or 97 with the Rosewood Board it's truly the only guitar i regret selling.
