Wow dude, that is freaking awesome! Great catchy melodic tune! I'm listening on little crappy PC speakers, so take my comments with a grain of salt. But man, that mix sounds perfectly balanced to me!

What amps, guitars, or pedals are used on this tune?

Chris

Thanks man! The left side rhythm is my JCM800/tubescreamer, right side rhythm is Egnater Seminar head/tubescreamer, all the solos are my plexi/tubescreamer - cab for all is my 1960BX. The guitar on this song is my BC Rick Warlock with a Duncan Distortion in the bridge/floyd rose.

I'm on my second listen now, which is not something I'd normally do. But man, this sounds killer. Very tasteful use of keys and guitar wankery (don't take that as bad), while staying melodic.

Thanks! Actually no keys on this song, just some carefully layered guitars. I'm definitely ok with guitar wankery, it's what I like to try to do :) !

There aren't any "strings" or whatever in the background? Wow, my ears are playing tricks on me! I swore I heard them.

Thats just some single note guitar things that kind of develop into feedback - there's a fair amount of verb and delay on those so they seem kinda keyboardy.

I loved it! Guitars and mix sound great, cool retro melodic ideas, appropriately doled out rippature. Wow man, I'm very impressed...

One question though - why the tubescreamer with the Seminar head? The thing has massive amounts of gain on tap and I'm figuring you could have got that tone just by a bit of dialing... Just curious...

Thanks man, glad you liked it! I probably used the tubescreamer with the Egnater out of habit, I usually put it in front of everything. I just like a clean low end, especially for recording, the tubescreamer just seems to make stuff sit well in the mix. That's kind of important right now because when I'm recording I'm in the same room as the amp and the monitor speakers and everything, so I can't sit there and play with mic positioning and hear how it's affecting the tone - the tubescreamer is kinda my crutch - I can pretty much throw up a mic and get a usable tone. Without the tubescreamer I gotta play with mic positioning a little more - it' s a drag to turn off the monitors, put on the headphones, record, take off the headphones, turn on the monitors, and hear what I did -so I don't do a lot of experimenting with sounds

Nice dude! I will be in line when the CD is released!

Gotcha! Well, regardless of the approach the final resultant tone is stellar...

Oh I hear you. Plus you'd have to pass 23 cool stores to get here. Man, I don't travel from here to the valley anymore unless I absolutely HAVE TO. Last time I was in the valley was for a funeral so that kind of proves it. It's kind of sad that we can't make a 40-50 mile drive each way because it will take up our whole day. LA traffic

Pfffft... I made it from my house in south OC to Carney's in Hollywood on Sunset last Saturday in 55 minutes at noon. Gas crisis, FTW!

Lucky you! When I got to LA (5 years ago) I was commuting from Sherman Oaks to Torrance 5 days a week for work (1 hour in at 6 am, 2 hours home at 4 pm) - luckily about 3 years ago I started working from home.
