alright guys so here is the deal, recently I have discovered that I LOVE, the sound of my trri breaking up a little bit. for mine with buckers that starts happen around 6.

I currently have a prri that I am thinking of selling for a drri/a attenuator and a pedalboard.

I have to say, I don't know what it is about my twin, but I really LOVE IT. I love the full cabinet 2x12 sound, I love how it really takes anything I can throw at it, I like that I have enough headroom, for unmic'd shows and practices, but it is loud. Though loud is subjective I find that if it's volume could be cut in half, it could be a much more doable setup for even small shows (while having the ability to be loud enough for outside gigs)....

I love the twin so much I am not sure if I would really want to bother with a deluxe, when the twin has it all for me. I had a deluxe for a little and I don't remember it as well, and attenuators are expensive, almost half a deluxe in some cases,

what do you guys think? and could I somehow do a safe tube pull while still running both the speakers if I took it to a good tech?

I say deluxe I dont like the sound of the twin with an attenuator. I have a 50watter with 6l6 and it doesnt sound good with attenuators either.

I did an AB between friends Deluxe and a Twin and the Twin just sounded
much fuller/massive sounding than the Deluxe ... I might have liked the deluxe
if I hadn't played it up against a twin. Hope that helps.

Got to agree on the attenuator being a bad thing for fenders in general!

if the deluxe can nail the same tone, I would definitely trade my princeton for one, I do know about the bright cap though, but I would be cranking this thing loud which I think eliminates it from the circuit?

I am definitely looking for a little breakup, I just find the twin so interesting because it is very little saturation, but has a ton of balls that just eats pedals. The other day I dimed it and played it with a stock ds-1 (ew 99 percent of the time) and was simply amazed.

also how different is the characteristics of the breakup tone between these two amps?

ps isn't it always best to use the right tool for the job rather than go pulling tubes etc?

attenuating a twin wont really get you half the volume and same tone imo. some of that break up you hear is speaker breakup.

a deluxe needs to be on 10 or close to it for me and volume knob for clean up. the more you crank it is the bigger it gets. it won't be the same as the twin but it has it's own signature sound.

Have you played a bassman 4/10 tweed ri? that's a good mix between the two. throw it on 5 and rock out.
