So I picked up this Epiphone 1958 V RI this week. Got a really good deal on it and it even came with a hard case.

The guitar itself, was in pretty minty condition. But as we all know, these guitars come stock with sub-par pots, pickups, tuners and caps.

So, I dug deep into the parts drawer! First off, adding CTS 500k pots and a Russian .015 paper in oil capacitor. Then went through my pickup box and realized i had a set of gold Wolftone Dr Vintage pickups!!! Perfect!!! Next, was a set of locking gold Kluson Revolution tuners. I decided to keep the stock bridge...it didn't seem to be to terrible, as far as quality and i didn't have a gold TONEPROS bridge in my parts drawer. To top off the vintage look, I added a 58 style logo, gold tophats and truss rod cover.

Then it was time for strings....The neck (a medium beefy 50s carve) just needed a slight truss rod adjustment. The fretwork was very good! It sets up great! The Wolftones sound great in this guitar. Very aggressive and punchy tone.

These Epiphone Vs are very light and surprisingly well built! Because they have a maple neck, they do neck dive a little though. Overall, a wonderful playing guitar! A great stage guitar! A really great value axe that gives off the vibe of a guitar that costs 10X more.

I have the same guitar but mine was an exclusive from AMS. 1st one they sent had a nice hump at the 12th fret in the neck itself which made it pretty much unplayable unless your action was ridiculously high. 2nd one came and the entire guitar had buffing scratches all over the front and back. It was like they cleared it, sanded, and never finished. 3rd one was a keeper which I still have today. I changed the harness and pots, and put a 500t in the bridge and a 498 in the neck. Was my 1st and only Epi and after changing the guts its actually a really nice guitar. I also put on the Gibby logo but mine is gold.. LOL Enjoy that one!

I paid $2300 for it. I felt that was a good price, considering there were no cracks or breaks. Although I will most likely put another $375 into a refret and new nut.
