So I got my Ultra (it's fantastic!) and now I'm thinking about using just it for live and leaving my amp at home. But my question is what kind of power amp should I get to go with it? I would like to keep the weight down however. Any suggestions? I'm not too familiar in this area. Thanks for reading!

If you're trying to keep weight down I think you can run the Axe right to the board and not use a power amp at all.

Do you want or need a separate power amp? If not I would definitely have a look at the new Atomic wedges and or cabs. I am running the Axe through the powered wedge and really like it. Very simple setup and sounds very good to me.

For a separate power amp setup the ART-SLA2 is decent. 1U, lightweight, and pretty loud.

Good luck!

I use a Carvin Dcm1540L. It's only 16lbs and packs a mighty wallop and it wont break the bank!
I used to use a Boogie 2:90 but it weighed a ton, so replacing it with the Carvin was a God Send. Just for the record, I a/b'ed the Carvin to the 2:90 and at first I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to make the Carvin sound as good as the boogie but I was home free within a 1/2 hour of screwing around with it.

If I had to do it all over again I more then likely would have went with one of the new Atomic series wedges or even there 50 watt tube driven poweramp! With all that said ..you have many options!!

I hope this helps!

That's the route I would have gone if the Atomics were out back when I bought the Carvin!! I believe Tom let Kage and I play through the Prototype and it kicked major ass.....so much so that Kage and I bought an axe-fx after playing it though a similar rig as in the video!!

For me the Atomic Power amp looks like something my 2 year old would store his toys in... The power amp most folks seem to really like is the VHT 2/90/2 Power Amp... I think it's stereo. I'm using a QSC GX5 and that sucker is massively loud!

Not a power amp expert, but I wonder, as a cheap and portable solution how those Electro Harmonix 22 caliber pedal power amps would work/sound with the Axe FX

If u just want a small portable tube power amp, the Atomic mono block is the way to go.
