It sure is great when you can take the strings and bridge off of your Charvel SoCal, give it a basic fret job to get rid of some of the sharp edges (I don't really care for big ass frets like this) and hit them with some fret erasers and micromesh to finely polish and smooth the ends and put your Floyd back on days later with multiple temp/humidity changes, change the string gauge, finely adjust the height of the bridge and the claw screws and STILL only have to lightly intonate 3 strings while the other 3 were dead on perfect. That is a victory in my book. It's also great when you can actually stand to play the guitar as well now because the sharp fret edges are gone.
I can tell you one thing I still don't care for on this guitar, and that is the DiMarzio Evolution in the neck. On a decent amount of gain on my Budda Superdrive with a boost, the Tone Zone sounds great in the bridge, although a wee bit hot at times, but anytime the Evolution is selected it's muddy garbage with no definition in the notes, just a hot mess of garbled notes all smooshed together. I can barely stand to play the neck pickup. I really like the Evolution in the bridge in a real heavy ass superstrat I've got, but this neck version is trash.
On a side note pertaining to the new setup, I saw where some people recommend tuning the guitar using the 3rd fret instead of open notes, as well as Mr Suhr himself, so I thought I'd give that a shot. I dig it. It's new and I like it. Some open notes sound a weeeeeeee bit flat or out here and there, but then again, they're brand new strings and still stretching a little. I'll hit the fine tuners tomorrow and give it another go and see what I think.
