Action changes - so annoying, real cause?

This has always annoyed the crap outta me.....the setup was perfect on my Suhr Modern...virtually straight neck (tiny amount of relief) and beautiful low action with no fret buzz.

All I did with the guitar was move it from one room to another, in it's case, store it there for 3 days and move it back to regular place where it sits for a day before I get chance to play it....there's <5'F between the rooms.

I pull it outta the case and the 3 unwound strings are fret buzzing like a moro, almost everywhere on the neck...

The only solution I've found is add a small amount more relief and adjust action up a tad on treble side....so bloody annoying.

Is this humidity? Weather changing? It's fucking annoying because the setup was *perfect* on this guitar!

next time i would adjust everything and wait about 24-48 before making your final adjustments. The neck may have swayed a bit.

I had another go at adjusting today, it is a little better...had assumed 24hrs would be enough, seems like 48 is better....but yeah, I think the neck has changed a small amount due to the weather....always annoys the crap outta me. :-)

climate changes, some guitars are affected by it more that others. Basically tweaking the truss rod, bridge and re-setting up is what you do. I find that my fatter necks after about a year or so need little if any neck adjustments where as the thinner ones need more.

One of the main guitar attributes that affect neck changes is the amount of finish on it.

That's exactly the cause. Oddly, I find that my Moderns almost never change. I think that's because mine always go back in the cause and they're in a section of the house that always stays near optimal humidity. It is a pain though. Usually it just takes a nudge on the truss though.

The one guitar in my collection I have never needed to touch since I set it up is my ESP KH-2...damn thing is so stable I love it. It does have quite a thick coating on the neck..hmm

My Davies N4's change the most out of all my guitars. I relate it to them having absolutely no finish on the necks. It seems my Les Pauls change the least. We've had a very long cold winter here in the east. The constant heat in the house really drove down the humidity. This has been probably the worst winter I can remember for guitars.
