AJ may be one of the most famous Diezel users, but not one that really represents the Diezel sound. ;)

To provide empirical evidence:

https://soundcloud.com/underthelash/aj- ... 12-o-clock

16 Ohm Greenbacks through an sm57 on the cone.

AJ likes to kid people but I think these settings sound quite a bit like him. Maybe a bit too little lows.
The 12 o'clock EQ settings (and that's still bright with presence at 3 and deep at 2 o'clock) do not sound like him in the heavy songs. At least that is my impression.
I'm using KT77s, however, and I do not own a Mesa oversize with Mesa V30s.
And maybe some of the high end is really coming from his plexi.

So, whatever. The last album sucked anyway.

Do you stil have the VH4, man?

You can close with just the vh4 . But if you buy a cheap DSL and run it UNDERNEATH the vh4 time you will nail it. Don’t need an old Marshall like he has . Lately he adds a third amp
Mainly riviera Slipknot amp

You are absolutely correct about adding the Marshall....Glorious.

He messed around with a Knucklehead Tre and a few other amps as per EvilJoe. But his sound is definitely VH4 dominant, with that Marshall giving it the sizzle. I know we're all entitled to our own opinions and what our ears hear, but honestly, I can't think of another player who epitomizes the Diezel sound with more regularity and consistency than AJ. Yes, his tones move around album to album (barring Undertow/Opiate v.1), but that thick 3D insanity can only be had with a VH4 at the end of the chain. And honestly, AJ like so many other guitarists, has his techniques and approaches and therefore his inherent "personal toanz" that no one can cop *perfectly*, cuz c'mon, he's AJ and that's *his* tone.

Rossdale of Bush did some work with the VH4
Corgan, obviously
Hett, Stef, etc etc etc. Wanna hear some SICK tones listen to Diezel's very own Stapfer play his strat into a Hagen. Madness!!

Couldn't agree more Jones can only nail his signature tones with the VH4....And I love what Hetfield and Corgan have done with the Diezel sound as well. Just a side note: On 10,000 Days the Rivera that Barresi mixed in was actual a Rivera KR7 prototype or very early production model. It colored his Diezel tone a little more "metal" to my ears.
