Would all the metal, including the bridge, locking nut, springs, trem block, etc weigh more than the wood routed out (and existing hardware removed) to accommodate a Floyd Bridge ?

Basically did your guitar weigh more or less after a Floyd installation ?

Hard to say because a lot of wood gets removed for the installation, particularly if you're doing a cavity behind the bridge for pull-ups.

I would say the guitar would be a little lighter or about the same . I've never done a conversion but I've held a floyd rose and its not that heavy and although a good bit of wood gets removed I wouldn't think the amount of wood would not be that heavy either .
Then theres the argument of what kind of wood are you removing ? Some woods are heavier than others .

I would think that all of those components together it would be heavier than the wood removed. Its no really a lot of wood. Also I can only say based on Floyd Rose Original, a lot of Flodd copies are made of bunk cheap, and lighter metals. Even with a 32 block it would be heavier.

resonate totally different... just sayin... so I don't know if that's your concern but...

Hit the gym and do sum curls and it won't matter

I know the Peavey Wolfgang is a little heavier with a Floyd then without.

Of course their may be exceptions...

Compared to a Fender style trem, yes the Floyd is heavier.

But from a hard tail to Floyd - really depends on the weight of the wood used. Only an ounce or so either way.
