I'll start off by saying I hate Velcro on the bottom of pedals and I'm looking for a pedal board that I could put my pedals on without the velcro. I'm thinking about making one but unfortunately I'm limited with the tools that I have. I don't want to spend a huge amount of money something around $150 to $250. Thanks in advance for any advice.?

Holeyboard - uses zip ties to mount pedals;

More expensive are Temple boards; they have locking plates to mount the pedals, that are extra cost.

How many pedals do you need to mount?

Large black plastic zip ties from Lowe’s / Home Depot can be a clean and easy alternative to Velcro.

I cannot say enough good things about the VooDoo labs boards. Lots of different sizes and configurations with excellent power options designed to fit / mount cleanly under the board. They also stock every variety and length of power cable you could need. I bought mine used in excellent condition well within your price range.

I recently saw on youtube where someone was building a pedalboard, using velcro.

They mated the hook & loop parts together, cut 4 tiny squares, adhered them to the pedal, then positioned them and stuck them on the board. To be honest, I felt kind of stupid for never thinking of that before. I always covered my board with giant stripes then stuck it on the entire bottom of the pedals for no good reason.

Not sure if that's a solution to what the OP is looking for.

My bass player hates velcro too. I can't remember what he has but it is a board eith holes like someone mentioned.

Tons of used ones everywhere and of course you got the Chinese versions that are pretty cheap. Sometimes you can find really cool and sometimes affordable stuff on Etsy….

For up to 8 pedals with a couple oversized, maybe take a look at the VooDoo Dingbat Medium? Wide range of used prices with and without power supplies.

I just purchased this one it will work perfect and I think I will use zip ties. The price is better than I expected. Hopefully no one's bought one of these and it's complete garbage if so get a hold of me right away so I can cancel the order lol. Thanks for your input.
They’re awesome. Very well built. Conceivably you could use zip ties instead of the mounts, but they’re not that expensive. I suggest the IEC and 4x jacks modules.

The pedal plates that quick mount to the board. Medium is your basic boss size. The small fits over the sticker area on the back of a boss pedal, but it’s way more solid to remove the boss rubber, clean and then use the medium. You can reuse the plates too, but cleaning is a pain get the new adhesive on.

I've got two of them....swear by them. I use zip ties right now.

This company though is now making mount plates for all brands of pedals no adhesive sticky plate needed:
