Just put 4 mullards in the pre slots with a balanced one in v4. I get a bell like chime when i use any of the voicing switches and when i switch to stand by on the dirty channel. Was not there before with the stock pre amp tubes..any advice would be greatly appreciated..tnx amp sounds good. a little more open and top end is strong. i think that is ok,but i want to be sure i am not risking anything

Sounds like a micro phonic tube
What I was thinking..kind of strange for it do it when going to standby.I have gotten an occasional pop" when doing this before changing these pre amp tubes. Never any ringing..will see if I can weed out the bad one.hopefully it's only 1, they are brand new..

Try the pencil tap test on each preamp tube with the amp on.

Swap positions with another first and see if the problem goes away

That's a good way to weed out the bad or to see if it's one or more, I am curious is it the tubes or is the amp sensitive to certain 12ax7s, I should have just put the exact same tubes I had being the ruby's and the Chinese not that that's a guarantee. Never had any problems like this swapping out pre amp tubes. I tried a tad 12 ax7 in v1 of my small box and it sang like a champion, put a sovtek in v2 and no bell pops..I believe I will send them back and get the ruby's

It's not necessarily a particular brand it's more per tube. You could get a ruby with the same exact problem

So I swapped v1 back to the original and the light ringing diminished, swapped v2 and it is gone. However I do get pops" when using the toggle's and from time to time switching from on to standby. Is that some kind of dc build up? Is it possible to get rid of it? If it would change anything about the sound then ill deal with it. The amp is epic
