Looking to get a fuzz pedal with some gain to it and something with a few adjustable parameters for versatility. Since it's going to be used sparingly, price is an issue so it's gotta be cheaper but quality. I know that is asking for a lot but it's worth discussion.

Hoping to use it with an 800 for stoner rock / doom type stuff. Monolord, Fumanchu, Kyuss etc. I would love a hyper fuzz but they are too pricey.

The Boss FZ-2 is one of the best fuzz pedals ever. I hate fuzz pedals, but it is actually musical. Look around on craigslist or pawn shops, you might find one cheap.

WHOOPS saw you said Hyper Fuzz was too pricy, naw you can find one.

Check out the MXR Submachine. I got mine used for $90. Very versatile with two buttons and an adjustable sub knob.

What's too pricy? If budget is a concern you need to name the price range.

Attempting to get the job done with VST software for now. The Thermionik ram fuzz isn't complete crap I guess? Been thinking about that new EHX russian RI.

Take a look at the DOD Carcosa or the new Big Muff Op Amp.

I don't like most fuzzes but the Big muff PI with tone wicker beat out a large pile of fuzzes for me on a project for both guitar and bass.

The Carcosa is a good recommendation: it's cheap and pretty versatile.

Some sort of used Muff (or clone) is also good.

As a fuzzaholic, my first temptation was to say "all of them."
