I think I probably know the answer, but want to hear it from you guys...What module would get closest to Jerry's tones on Sludge Factory and God Am from the three-legged-dog AIC album? I believe Jerry used a 5150 on those tunes. I would assume that the EG5 would be the way to go?

The SL2x with the M.V. pegged, lately a cooler pickup but works great with hotter one's. The SL2X covers a tremendous amount of tones- My favorite so far. I have not tried Jeffs modded XTC modual as of yet but still stress the SL2X :m17:

Really? I always thought that modual was voiced off of Bruce's T.O.L series which is awesome I might add. Maybe speaker/ pickup combo's will get you there with that modual. So much variance- Gotta luv it

Wade, not the regular EG3/4...

The EG3/4 with the "X" mod done to it.

Takes it from T.O.L. sound, into more of a Bogner/Diezel territory.

1. this is the "X". it's brighter and tighter than the TOL voicing.

2. Even so, the standard TOL voicing works pretty well for AIC. Most of the tones are fairly dark to my ears.

Oh, ok...So the EG3/4X is Jeff's modded baby. I gottcha now. I wasn't getting that vibe from the Stock Eg 3/4. Since my last Isolation session with all the moduals at the studio some things have changed with speakers and things. I bet the Vintage 30's brighten it up a bit also..

each song has a very different tone

Jerry said in an interview (I have a scan, but in brazilian portuguese) that Sludge Factory was a Les Paul through the 5150 and a G&L through a Bogner (Fish?)
