Seems like Devy gets the most out of the digital tanning bed.

It seems the Axe is a fav to the brutlz crowd. Not my tone taste but it doesn't jump out at me as a modeler.

I picked this release up when it came out. Devy's made it pretty clear he's been 100% Fractal for well over a year now. Seemed the "Ultra" was his edge in, liked the FX and shit, and honed his "main tone" for a year with the Ultra as his "tone generator". When it became the Axe-II, he went full bore - and that's it now. Studio and live, 100%.

Yes, but his best tone he's ever had was on Accelerated Evolution, that album sounds huge, and it was all Mesa. When he plays those festivals where there's several other bands I imagine it gets chaotic with setup and whatnot. I can see where the Axe-Fx would have it's benefit since you don't have to worry about a pedalboard or a rack full of stuff, or multiple amps.

Got to agree with Dan here. That is my favorite solo release and I think the guitars sound amazing.

I loved his Mesa tones too. Loved them.

But for whatever reason, and it's his personally and professionally, he's all Axe now. He did say he was a bit pissed that "it took him 1 year of work to get his tone from the Ultra", and then he got the A2 and said "now I suppose I'll spend another year trying to get my tone"...

I'll look for the video. It's pretty awesome. He even offers a link where one can download his personal presets and such. Personally, I find his recent presets so loaded with FX and swirls and thickness and bunk, it's definitely not for me. But hey, whatever floats Devy's boat.

I think it's in these he talks about his axe addiction:
