This interesting video discusses variability in human intelligence and its consequences. Ten percent of the population is so stupid they can't be trained to be useful even in the army as a grunt. That's just the worst cases - it's a spectrum of course. This helps explain why there are so many stupid statements on social media. A huge proportion of the population (greater than 10%) are pretty stupid. That's the reality.

With the advent of the internet and the availability of public forums, low intelligence people then have an avenue to disseminate their opinions within the pubic domain. Those opinions then attract support from other stupid people that haven't got the brain power to discern what is rubbish versus what is reasonable.

All that sounds rather distasteful but there would be at least a fair amount of truth to that.

 
I'd rather hang out with stupid but cool people that believe wrong, dumb things, than high intelligence people who think they know everything. Low IQ may be associated with stupid beliefs but high IQ can definitely be associated with pride and arrogance so to me it's all the same and I would probably default to hanging out with the lower IQ person in that situation. The stench of intellectual pride is more irritating than someone who believes dumb stuff.

Well, a lot of stupid people are proud and arrogant, too! LOL
 
First of all, IQ tests are about as subjective as lie detector tests. Also there is a huge difference between "Educated" and smart.

And I would say 10% is far, FAR lower than the actual amount of stupid people on the planet. My judgement doesn't come from social media either because I don't do social media.

A lot of it is fueled by drugs and drinking. I have known some damn dumb people who were intolerable that were otherwise intelligent and normal when they were drinking, but they were always drinking.

Humans are susceptible to ego, and overly heightened self-esteem. Smart people, dumb people anyone can be overconfident in their beliefs.

Now add others that share the same belief, and it starts to snowball. It actually begins to develop a belief protection mechanism, i.e. the echo chamber.

If a member of such belief system begins to doubt, all doubt will be removed when they revisit the echo chamber.

A large percent of dumb mother fuckers are churned out of universities every year. Mother fucker can tell you how many protons are in a popsicle but can’t do a brake job on their car or figure out how not to drive like a fucking moron.
 
I really do my best to get along with everyone and give respect where it's due. But in my opinion these universities need reigned in. My degrees are worthless anyway. B.S. in Biology/pre-med and an A.S. in general studies....plus minors in history and criminal justice. It helped as far as showing I had them for an application, but damn...I went to prison for fucks sake. lol.... Now it seems that they making these dumb kids dumber. When I was a kid they were having marches to attack Iran....now it's fuck Israel. Crazy shit is....crazy...
