All of the sudden noisy pedals?

So I have been successfully profiling my amp + pedals for a while but all of the sudden I'm getting tons of noise through a distortion pedal + boost. Yeah, I've been twisting knobs but not THAT drastic. What could be causing this sudden change? FWIW when I engage the noise gate (before the pedals in question) I don't hear anything. Does that indicate the source is somewhere further up the chain? Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

Make sure there are no cables crossing over the power supply, etc. I took an amp in to get serviced and the guy couldn't find anything wrong. Turns out my effects loop cable was laying in a way that caused a huge hum.

Another thing you can try, is to clean the jacks with contact cleaner or deoxit. My Decimator pedal occasionally acts up and it's the jacks that get oxidized. Totally out of nowhere, very sudden.

So I reorganized cables and everything's good again. Guess something got crossed somewhere — thanks guys.
