All time worst covers

I realize its all subjective so this is just me whining I suppose. I really do not understand humanity or the general persons decision making process, especially in relation to determining what is good or becomes popular. Can someone please explain to me how Disturbed can utterly ruin the Sound of Silence and Bad Wolves is still allowed to record Zombie? I'm not trying to conflate the greatness of SOS with a song like Zombie but that's two gigantic cleveland steamers of covers that seem to somehow pass as good music to the masses. And someone, somewhere along the way heard Disturbed ruining perfectly good blank digital recording space and said to themselves,"yea this is a good idea... who else can we get to do more of this?". I just don't get it and frankly am disgusted by it. What Diddy did to Led Zeppelin can never be forgiven but at least it was different and not a straight cover and sadly enough, because of that, it is still better than this trend of absolute garbage covers. Two data points does not establish a trend really but I think you all get me point...

Anything by 5 finger death punch gives me ear cancer. Just my opinion but those guys are about the heavy metal equivalent of Nickelback. The main demographic they appeal to seems to be the knuckle dragging Tap Out wearing middle age fat guys that think for some reason they're MMA fighters. God they're so awful.
