Lava Soar

I'm going for new lead cables. These are the only ones I'm considering, and I've got next to nothing on the technical data of the Lava Soar's, other than Mark Stoddard's personal (and more than likely biased, ahem, opinion).

I'm redoing my speaker cables too - and those will more than likely be Vovox Drive, with EA Siren a close 2nd place. I can get all of these cables (pardoning the Soar's) for a very good price - hence my decision to go for it, as I have nothing to lose. I'd not consider it very seriously at rack rate pricing, but seeing as I can do alright with both the EA and the Vx, I'm in!!

Thanks cats - no need to discuss Mogami, or Canare, or the like. I can only do EA and Vovox, and direct with Mark for the Soars.

For those of you who want the technical background:
1 x speaker lead for the 20thA XTC to the 20thA 4x12 cab
2 x speaker leads for the Diezel VH4S to the Diezel 4x12 cab (stereo)
2 x speaker leads for the Fryette 2/90/2 to the Fryette Deliverance 4x12 (stereo)

3 guitar leads. 1 into a Lehle S-go-S splitter, from there 2 more leads into 2 rigs. I'm keen on mating the Mak4 rig with the Diezel, and the Diezel with the XTC and the XTC with the Mak4.

THANK YOU for your greatly anticipated opines!! :salute:

That's just it, haven't tried any of 'em... And my offer on these is a limited time offer, so to speak.

C'mon man, you know I'm yer ho', I'm not wasting my time here - just getting a sense of what's going on out there in the world of cables other than my own :hys:

so you're getting incentives for those brands/models?

my point was pretty clear - buy one of each, try one of each, in each position with your current rig, and choose what works for you.

you dont need RT guys for a second time to choose your cables - you already narrowed your field drastically due to the other thread  .

just buy some and go for it. report back what you hear. esp since you already created a topic on cables to get this far..

besides you've ruled out everything most people use.

and BTW dont forget to increase the gauge of speaker wire in your cabinets if you're going through this much hastle for cables.

Breaking my BALLS man...

Slappin' da ho!! :hys:

PS - I'll keep my mouth shut and let ya know what I go with... Ya bugger!!

I'm a Vovox man, I like the extended frequency range they give. Other cables sound 2d and dull to me.

Thank you KC - please expand on your recommendation...

Hunter, what model - The Link Protect A??

Am I British, no. But I have a lot of their words, slangs, and nuances in my verbal lexicon - I don't know why. I've had people ask me if I'm Irish when I speak quickly... Go figure. Maybe it's because I like English humor and movies and read a lot of books by Englsih people. The Irish bit I can't quite figure out myself. I've got several friends from the UK, and I hang with them a fair bit - music folk. After a few weeks in a recording space with them, ponce, cunt, bloke, taking the piss, bullocks, and a host of other slurs just become second nature... And the 'c' word I HATE using in THIS country is used very commonly over there, even in a jovial, kind and friendly sort of way...

Just Vovox protect A here, all my cables are 4 years old. There was no "Link" type when I bought them.

Those Evidence cables are stiffer than a priest's pecker. I hated them and gave them away with an amp. I didn't like the speaker cable either as it had those long Neutrik plugs which tend to get pushed into a wall.

FWIW, I went with a full complement of Vovox - leads and speakers. Done.

Will give ya my 2 cents when they arrive next week... Or simply wallow in the fact I got smeared on the marketing and snake oil of "boutique high end cables that really do make a sonic difference".

No more breaking my balls, Gary... Decision made :D

 i think youll hear a difference...congrats on completing the rig...now strap on, pick in hand and commence drooling at the wonder you built

Yep, I'll post results... Like I said Reza, I'm a fairly objecctive guy, I'm going into this believing I WON'T hear a difference (just so happens the deal was too good to not go with, dems the breaks).

It'll be a fun task, as I'm planning not only on doing a Neutrik, Planet Waves, etc. A/B/C/etc I'm also planning on doing a A/B/C of amps through 1 or 2 guitars - the XTC, VH4S and the Mak4

Stoked

Vovox cables are just a joy to use. Sound aside, they are like a wet noodle on the floor. I have evidence cables and a Lava soar and using them is miserable. They're ridiculously stiff - like being tethered to your board with the wire running through your house. The vovox just does whatever you want and never gets in the way.

Wow, you've got all the brands I was pondering... Stiffness and usability aside, can you say any of them sound 'better' than the others. Or let me rephrase that, which one sounds the least 'worse' out of the bunch??

Thanks,
V.

What are you going to do for your rhythm cables? Do you have some way you switch back and forth while playing?

Hopefully you spent a shit load and won't hear a difference. Then you'll be a welcome member of the club. :cheers2:

Excellent question - I've had Bradshaw set up a switching system that will automatically re-direct signals from my guitar by a sound processing based CPU that understand not only chordal sequences (rhythm guitar), but also the chromatic scale - so that when I play any solos, an entirely different set of "solo specific cables" are employed.

It's crazy, but Tag and I have really found out how to capture the perfect tone...
