Well, I had planned to pick up a Metro 100W plexi kit for a side project, but since they have now stopped offering them again it appears that is not much of an option. I could source all the parts myself, but before I head down that path I wanted to see if anybody had any comments on any of the other kits out there....Any experience with the Weber or Mojo kits? Any comments on the transformers?

Alternatively, if somebody has an awesome marshallesque amp they want to sell me (cornford, cameron, cali modded, wizard, etc...), shoot me a pm:)

mojo kits have heyboer OT and PT, and heyboer have great reputation

What about OT and PT of ceriatone kits? anyone compared them?

The Ceriatone kits seem pretty fair and you and you can part them and buy the parts you want. The boards come preassembled though, which may or may not be what you are looking for.

What about TADs (TubeAmpDoctor) kits? Are they any good?

I thought Mojo was just a dealer for Metroamp kits? Or maybe Im thinking of one of the tube stores on the web...?

The Trannys are nice. Already talked to them. Seems like they have great support. Should have mine in a couple weeks

You can get a 1987 for $289 without trannies and tubes. $400 with trannies. Shit, another $300 bucks for a good set tubes and used head shell and you'd have a pretty nice amp.

It appears the trannies are made locally there in Chicago. Do you know what company it is? What have you heard about the trannies?

The same model Ceriatone is $530 without tubes, but with a head shell. Not sure about the trannies that they ship with it though.

Im not technically versed in trannys so i cant compare them to others. But the guys on the metro forum say they are good. Someone mentioned that on here too a while back. I dont know the company that makes them. Its my understanding that its triodes spec manufactured by someone else.

Cool. Are there any clips anywhere?

hmmm....Ive seen clips of the fender kits on YT but not any for the marshalls

The Triode stuff is decent. The transformers are Magnetic Components. From what I see some of the chassis look like Weber and the 2203/2204 looks like a Ceriatone.

don't forget to purchase the chassis, it's not included in the kit price.

Oh, you're right. The Ceriatone kit may be the cheapest way to go.
