Sounds really thin and trebly to me. :aww:

I know.

I've decided it's a lot easier recording stuff tuned near standard :aww:

I was tuned to "A" here

Yeah, a lot of amps don't sound good in low tunings either. What guitar and amp did you use?

Ibanez RG7621
Evo 7
CAE 3+
VHT 2150
Framus Cobra Cab
Sennheiser E906
yamaha AW16G recorder

Of course, I fucked around with the EQ on the Yamaha for way too long. I'm sure my ears were all fucked up.

The amps and guitar sounded fairly thick and clean in the room

I hate basswood guitars and DiMarzio pickups, especially for low tuned modern stuff. I'm sure it did sound better in the room though. Recording is a bitch sometimes. :gethim:

yeah, basswood can sound all over the place depending on the piece of wood. I'm not sure I like this pickup either.

and damn, it just would not sound right through my non-studio monitor stereo system. :(

I had the same setup in my UV777BK, basswood body with an Evo 7. I didn't like the tone at all. Just couldn't dial in the crunch I like. Here's a clip I recorded with it though. Sounds better on the clip than it did in person IMO.

If that guitar would have had a mahogany body and ebony board, I would still have it. It just looks so badass...but I hated the tone. :(

I think 4 rhythm tracks was a bit too much in mine to try to thin it out enough to attain clarity :(

I usually only do 2 tracks, but I think 4 sounds thicker. I'm just lazy. :D

Anytime I do 4 tracks I back the gain way down to barely more than a clean tone on the 3rd and 4th tracks, and usually set the mids and treble differently. I also lower the volume just a little bit on those tracks too.

I actually had the gain WAY down, but Amon Amarth has too much picking + I didn't mix any mics like I usually do. + I did all kinds of weird notching and shit with the recorder EQ.

I never do any post EQ or anything either. Pain in the ass...and again, I'm lazy. :D
