Ok so I'm running direct into a PA mixing board stereo ins and so far fantastic results. However I am going through a house PA board power amp and thier floor monitors. I want to run my guitar in the monitor mix but still have my own personal monitor of just me. Is it better to get the same wedges that I already use or can I get away with a powered monitor? Is it ok to tweak the EQ on the channel a bit like bump up the highs and lows or keep it flat and tweak it on my modeler? How so pickups effect your tone on the modeler do EMGs work better or are passives fine? Duncan distortions seem to do well but get a little flubby.

Get a mesa recto 1x12 and a little power amp and blast it right at you. that what the dream theater dude does. Just run the signal to it pre cab sim.

Yeah but will my guitar tone change from how it sounds in the monitor mix?

I am not sure I completely understand your question, and not sure what you're using, but if your device is like the AX8, or something similar, it should have multiple outputs...like OUT1 L/R and OUT2 L/R. I send OUT1 to the main sound system, and OUT2 to an Atomic powered wedge. At least on the Fractal, I have a separate Global EQ for each OUTPUT, so if something needs to be tweaked either at the front or my personal monitor, it can be done discretely.

I would imagine so...especially if you are using IRs on the modeler which I assume you are if you're going direct.

You can shoot your own Ir from the 1x12 then it would be identical.

Sorry I have a left and right out on my modeler and I'm running into the red and white channels on the board. I'm trying to figure out if I should get a few basic tones on the modeler that are usable then tweak it in the board so it sounds good. Or if I should just try leaving the EQ on the board flat and eq it on the modeling unit. Also when using a modeling unit with no cab how other things will effect my tone.

What modeler do you have? Sounds like you wont be able to do what I'm talking about. An Ir is the cabinet modeling. Its basically a .wav file that has the cab modeling info in it. You can make your own quite easily.

I'm trying this with an Axe8 and my floor pod plus as a backup/ leave at practice unit.
