I need a clean 112 for a pedal platform that sounds different than a Fender (eh, maybe another Fender). Must have tubes and be around the $800-900 used mark and have good even eq. Especially looking for a really good clean plus a thick, heavy distortion with bite. I'm totally willing to use some good boutique pedals to get the distortion though.

EDIT: I've been listening to the Electra Dyne 112 combo. Sounds amazing, but I read that it's really really loud and not good for home use.

Go . . .

I thought the ED sounded nice at low volumes. The master is touchy, so it's hard to physically put I in the right spot, but I thought it sounded great.

Also suggest a Marshall 4010 (a 2204 circuit in a 1x12 combo). Sounds great a reasonable volumes. They can be found in that price range.

See if you can find a Laney AOR30. They're really cheap, sometimes under $300. Even if it doesn't fit the bill, you aren't out much.

Throw a volume pedal in the loop.

I use a Mark III 1x12 combo for my lite rig.

I think what you're describing is a Mesa Mark series combo!

They are fantastic and delivery the goods for clean and dirt. Should be able to find as Mark III combo, as mention, for your budget.

You know, I've never played a Mark III but I hear a lot of good things about them. If I could play one first, it might make me a believer. I like that they don't have 50 gajillion knobs too.
