Amp Switcher and Effects Loop Issue?

Is there any issue with running 2 heads through an amp switcher than out to one cab while running time based effects in the loop?

I read when you switch heads while delays or reverberation are trailing off, it can cause damage to the transformer.

If so, is the only solution to run all effects before the amp switcher?
