99% sure I'll have one of these coming my way in the very near future...

yeah I was trying to figure out how it works and if it's worth a crap....explain how/why it sucks?

i have the 1002 and it's a fine amp. no fuzzyness or buzzy sound. the attenuator is great but if you don't have too use it in a band situation. really good low end with the 6550's in it.. do the heater mod and it'll last a good long time. the are a coupla resitors too clip out so the channel switching is faster. but my war beast has a bad power transfomer. anyway enjoy.

details on these mods?

Yep that be it.. Dont have a Vl but I do have his Xls ..

so basically the jist of heater mod is:
replacing the plastic connectors between the power and pre boards with wires- hardwiring it together

amiright?

ill sell you one of mine with a mod I bought for it for 75.00
Plus the mods are easy I have the bench warrior just no time to do it pm me..

I have a 502. I agree the attenuater sucks. I call it the tone suck knob! They sound decent. As always, speakers make a big difference.

what's the different selections on the midrange impact? the manual isn't very specific...

scoop to full Marshally mid roar- best feature imo

awesome. is it like 1 is scooped out and 5 is marshalled out? and just sort of places in between for 2-4?

also, I cant' seem to find a tube position guide- as in v1= v2= and so on.
any help?

Tube position is
Starting from the far right, looking from back.
Tube 1 is for both input channels, Tube 2 is for Channel 1, Tube 3 is for Channel 2, Tube 4 is for channel 2 Gain, Tube 5 is reverb, Tube 6 is mixer and Tube 7 is phase inverter.

The Mid Frequency selector is basically lowest/scooped at 1 then the mid frequency increases more as you go to 2,3,4,5..

1 is super-scooped, possibly unusable
2 is a more usuable scoop
3 & 4 are fanatastic- great to switch when double tracking to add a slightly different flavor
5 has so much mids I never went there either

Depending on how much gain you use- I use a lot- and your axe, results may vary
But I love the tones on 2 or 3 of the positions

Frequency 1 is perfectly usable for me, Never had a problem cutting through with it in Eb, D and C
Just depends on your preference and what type of music you are playing with it..

i'm all over the place as far as what I'll be playing with it. from E standard to as low as/lower than standard 8 string, so many options like that sounds TASTY
