What's the scoop on these? Worth a crap? What's it on par with?

i've got a 1002 and it really rocks, tons of gain, the reverb is good when it works! but the f-x loop is weak. (hint runs 6550s in it) you won't be sorry. btw. fix the heaters and it will last forever.

VL 1002 the 100 watt version.
oh, i forgot 2 channel, the clean is really good. but iy breaks up nicely at loud volumes. plus a built in attenuator.

I had one, hot rodded 800 ish a bit darker.
Fun amp.

Those VL-1002s look suspiciously like my Ampeg VH140C, which interests me slightly.

I got three all modded differently better than any of my other amps..Get the heaters fixed..

I had a VL503 combo & a vl502 head- awesome amps, love the mid selector! Sounds like a modded 800, a bit thicker/warmer. The clean channel is great, the whole amp is inspiring....I miss my VLs, wish I never gave them up

David Bauman
He was still learning as a singer back then, took lots of lessons since and is flat out professional now- and available for a new band, ready to travel. Great guy too.

What amp do you have now?

I have a Randall mts loaded with modded mods. Gigmods SL+ & Blackface gives me some of that VL feeling, plus many other options now like Salvation Angel and Mamba (Engl & Cobra)

I wonder if OP bought the amp?
