Very interested in one of these but would like to find out more from someone who actually has one. I'd mainly like to use it for recording, although I think I'd still need an audio interface right? Sounded like it has some pretty decent tones and is simple to use - which is an absolute necessity for me. ;)

I use it in many configurations:

- through an apogee directly for simple practice
- through Logic X, etc
- through a power-amp via line-out or through a power stage.
- has midi
- effects loop
- aux outputs

In terms of sounds, dials up many great amp sounds, including Friedman, etc...you can view the types on the website along with the manual that describes the different configurations. Also, can wire in your own effects to the mix. Pretty versatile.

seems better than lugging around the bigger modelers...

So you still need the apogee to record into a DAW?
Did you buy the unit direct from Amplifire?

ordered it from Amplifire direct

I just use Apogee with Logic X, amplifire is connected to Apogee Duet, then to Logic X.

You may want to see what other recording options exist.
