I almost got my hands on a matamp "black" a couple years ago- it was a prototype 2 channel version that they made 6 of but never went into production- it was unreal (although the second channel didn't work right) I traded a recto for a '74 super lead to trade to the guy and he traded it to some other dude for a twister mean100- fml. the guy still wanted the super lead though, so i got the twister- and the twister blew that matamp out of the water. The black was kind of a one-trick pony IMHO, didn't have any personality without dialing in a ton of gain, wasn't terribly dynamic, didn't have a very moldable tone- and as cool as they are I've never heard anything but grief from people about trying to get anything done through the company. You crank that thing up to 11 though and it was nasty. It's like a dragster- great if you want to go 200mph, not really good for much else. I've never played one of the GT-series amps or an Electricamp though, I'd be curious to see how different they are.
