Is a analog delay type pedal(Example: mxr carbon copy delay pedal,Ibanez analog delay pedal, etc, etc)have the same type of effect as a echoplex.
Yes, they are much the same with the degrading repeats...an actual tape delay sounds different from analog overall...warmer, shinier, the repeats are smoother, they swirl and merge with each other.rupe":lg9q5bn8 said:Many analog delays (and some digitals for that matter) seek to emulate a tape delay/echoplex...some do it better than others. In a nutshell, an analog delay will have a "warmer" sound to it due to the sonic degredation of the repeats (a desired result), much like a tape delay.
Not even close?psychodave":1yyovla6 said:Nope, not even close.
I see where you're coming from now. I'm speaking purely in regard to the actual delay effect, not the residuals (which can be replicated with one of many available boosts). For practical gigging purposes, I'll take a good delay and boost pedal over a tempermental EP3 any day.psychodave":3dru0hna said:Does the El Capistan add gain to the tone like the Echoplex does?

That's why I love the Echoplex. It adds gain and warmth and all of that good stuff to the tone. I still say analog delays are nothing like the Echoplex.
That said, the El Capistan look killer and I have though about buying one...
I think that Strymon is on to something with the El Capistan Bro and Id love to see what you think of that once its in your hands. that said, have you given the Fulltone TTE a shot?70strathead":3gsu2eld said:psychodave":3gsu2eld said:rupe":3gsu2eld said:I see where you're coming from now. Have to agree with Dave on this. Although everyone's raving about the El Capistan and I may have to check it out. I love my echoplex's especially when playing loud Marshall volumes they have so much headroom and me being a strat player, they taper off the highs nicely and shape the tone in a good way. I've tried SO many analog pedals, and I do like them for what they are, the old maxon ones are great, but performace, feel and tone wise, the amazing Maestro Echoplex does it for me.![]()
