The Maxon SD-9 is a pedal I've always wanted to try. It was first released by Ibanez (made by Maxon, as were all the 9 series pedals) alongside the Tube Screamer TS-9. The biggest difference between the SD-9 and the TS-9 is the mid boost in the Tube Screamer and the mid scoop in the Sonic Distortion.
I don't have an un-modded SD-9 to compare it to, but I can tell you that the modded version sounds great! It works wonders in front of my Marshall. It also works pretty well in front of both the Low and High inputs.
