I think he did a fine job IMO. You can tell he's not a "solois bass player" ala Cliff, but he sits in between the bassist shredder Cliff was and the Rhythmic bassplayer monster which was Jason Newsted, which imo is why robert has been a great fit in metallica.....he's not copying any of the two big ex players in Metallica.

I dunno man...I thought Death Magnetic was a return to form of sorts, despite the horrific brickwalling courtesy of todays "modern" mastering. Can we at least agree that it was cool they brought back the old school logo?

I think the same thing.... IMO Death Magnetic is as far back as the "new" and old metallica guys will go style wise.

And btw, robert trujillo wrote a lot of riffs for death magnetic.

there goes to show that opinions are like assholes..... specially on the internet.

Lars might be a subpar drummer, maybe even a bit of a dick at times during the old days....but that mother fucker is50% metallica....... and as he said on an interview on Howard Stern "I'm not a great drummer, but I'm the best drummer when it comes to playing behind James Hetfield rythm guitar and songwriting"

which IMO is true.......
