HI GUYS!I'M NEW TO THIS FORUM BUT I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING ALL THE DRAMA ON THE FORUM OVER THE PAST YEAR.LET ME START BY SAYING I WAITED PATIENTLY FOR MY AMP TO ARRIVE, ONE YEAR TO THE MONTH TO BE EXACT.I AM ALSO AN OWNER OF A CAMERON MODDED PLEXI THAT MARK DID FOR ME THAT TOOK SIX MONTHS.THE REASON I HUNG IN THERE IS BECAUSE I KNOW HOW SPECIAL THESE AMPS ARE.OVER THE COURSE OF THIS YEAR I SPOKE TO CHRIS ON A DOZEN OF OCASSIONS PERTAINING TO THE TIMEFRAME IN WHICH MY AMP WOULD BE DELIVERED AND ALSO JUST TO BS,GOT TO KNOW CHRIS FAIRLY WELL AND WHO I FIND TO BE A CLASS ACT AND A STAND UP GUY.ON SEVERAL OCASSIONS HE HAD OFFERED MY MONEY BACK AND REFUSED KNOWING DAM WELL WHAT I WAS GETTING MY SELF INTO AND KNOWING IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT.THERES NO NEED FOR ALL THE DRAMA THAT PERTAINS TO THIS SITE.IF YOU WANT ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE SOUNDING AMPS OUT THERE GET ON THE BANDWAGON AND WAIT PATIENTLY IF THE WAIT BECOMES TOO MUCH FOR YOU JUST ASK CHRIS FOR YOU DEPOSIT AND HE WILL GLADLY GIVE YOU BACK YOUR DEPOSIT. KNOW LETS GET TO THE GOOD STUFF!!!
I RECEIVED MY AMP A FEW DAYS AGO,TO GIVE YOU A LITTLE BACKGROUND AS I SAID I OWN A CAMERON JOSE MOD PLEXI REISSUE,A BOGNER 101B SERIAL#148 THAT I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR 14YEARS!! AND NEVER TIRE OF IT'S LUSH TONE.SHIT! MY FIRST MARRIAGE DIDN'T EVEN LAST 1/2 THAT LONG KNOW THATS TRUE LOVE. (LOL)I ALSO HAVE A MARSHALL JTM 45 OFFSET LIMITED EDITION/A JTM 45/100 LIMITED/A JIMI HENDRIX 45/100 LIMITED EDITION STACK AND A CORNFORD RK100.I DON'T NEED TO GO THRU A HONEYMOON FAZE TO GIVE MY BIAS OPNION.I HAVE BEEN PLAYING MY MODDED CAMERON FOR 2YRS AND OTHER GREAT AMPS IN MANY DIFFERENT SITUTATIONS TO RECOGONIZE A GREAT AMP IN A VERY SHORT TIME PERIOD.
LIKE ANY GREAT AMP BOGNER/DUMBLE/ CORNFORD/SOME MARSHALLS/TRAINWRECKS ECT.. IT'S THE UNIQUE VOICE THESE AMPS HAVE THAT SEPARATE THEM FROM THE PACK,THAT TRANCENDS THE PALYERS VISION THE VOICE OR TONE THAT ALL GUITARIST HEAR IN THERE HEAD AND WANT TO TRANSLAT FROM GUITAR TO AMP TO AUDIENCE,TO ALLOW YOU TO FORGET ABOUT WHAT YOUR PLAYING AND JUST PLAY!JIMI HENDRIX BAND OF GYPSIES IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THIS.
REVIEW:I USED A TYLER GUITAR WITH JOHN SUHR SINGLE COILS IN THE NECK AND A SEYMOUR DUNCAN CUSTON SHOP EVH HUMBUCKER IN THE BRIDGE.LETS START WITH CHANNEL 1 CLEAN:YOU HAVE BASS MID TREBLE GAIN W/A 3 POSITION BRIGHT SWITCH ABOVE THE GAIN KNOB THAT ALLOWS YOU TO GO FROM BRIGHT AND SPANKY/SPARKLY TO SMOOTH.THERES A GLOBAL PUNCH AND PRESENCE KNOB WITH A 3 WAY VOICING ON THE PUNCH KNOB THAT SEEMS TO SHIFT THE FEEL AND SOUND OF THE LOW END IN A SUBTLE BUT VERY EFFECTIVE WAY THE THREE WAY SWITCH ABOVE THE PRESENCE KNOB WORKS IN THE SAME FASHION AS THE SWITCHES ABOVE THE PUNCH KNOB AGAIN SUBTLE BUT VERY EFFECTIVE.THE CLEAN CHANNEL CAN GET ME IN BLACKFACE TERRITORY I CAN GET GREAT JAMES BROWN FUNK/HENDRIX/LANDAU/SRV TYPE TONES OUT OF THIS CHANNEL.IS THIS CHANNEL A FENDER NO.IS IT VERY FENDERISH YES BUT WITH MARKS DNA ALL OVER IT.THIS CHANNEL HAS ALOT OF COOL SPANK TO IT THAT JUST WANTS ME TO PLAY FUNK,SURE IT CAN GET REAL BLUSEY BUT FOR ME THE FIRST THIS THAT COMES TO MIND IS FUNK!THIS CHANNEL COVERS ALOT OF GROUND THAT EVEN FENDER SNOBS COULD FIND A SOUND THEY LIKE.
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

hi guys! i'm new to this forum but i have been following all the drama on the forum over the past year.let me start by saying i waited patiently for my amp to arrive, one year to the month to be exact.i am also an owner of a cameron modded plexi that mark did for me that took six months.the reason i hung in there is because i know how special these amps are.over the course of this year i spoke to chris on a dozen of ocassions pertaining to the timeframe in which my amp would be delivered and also just to bs,got to know chris fairly well and who i find to be a class act and a stand up guy.

on several ocassions he had offered my money back and refused knowing dam well what i was getting my self into and knowing it was worth the wait.theres no need for all the drama that pertains to this site.if you want one of the most unique sounding amps out there get on the bandwagon and wait patiently if the wait becomes too much for you just ask chris for you deposit and he will gladly give you back your deposit. know lets get to the good stuff!!!

i received my amp a few days ago,to give you a little background as i said i own a cameron jose mod plexi reissue,a bogner 101b serial#148 that i have been playing for 14years!! and never tire of it's lush tone.shit! my first marriage didn't even last 1/2 that long know thats true love. (lol)i also have a marshall jtm 45 offset limited edition/a jtm 45/100 limited/a jimi hendrix 45/100 limited edition stack and a cornford rk100.i don't need to go thru a honeymoon faze to give my bias opnion.i have been playing my modded cameron for 2yrs and other great amps in many different situtations to recogonize a great amp in a very short time period.

like any great amp bogner/dumble/ cornford/some marshalls/trainwrecks ect.. it's the unique voice these amps have that separate them from the pack, that trancends the palyers vision the voice or tone that all guitarist hear in there head and want to translat from guitar to amp to audience,to allow you to forget about what your playing and just play!jimi hendrix band of gypsies is a perfect example of this.

review:i used a tyler guitar with john suhr single coils in the neck and a seymour duncan custon shop evh humbucker in the bridge.lets start with channel 1 clean:you have bass mid treble gain w/a 3 position bright switch above the gain knob that allows you to go from bright and spanky/sparkly to smooth.theres a global punch and presence knob with a 3 way voicing on the punch knob that seems to shift the feel and sound of the low end in a subtle but very effective way the three way switch above the presence knob works in the same fashion as the switches above the punch knob again subtle but very effective.the clean channel can get me in blackface territory i can get great james brown funk/hendrix/landau/srv type tones out of this channel.is this channel a fender no.is it very fenderish yes but with marks dna all over it.this channel has alot of cool spank to it that just wants me to play funk, sure it can get real blusey but for me the first this that comes to mind is funk!this channel covers alot of ground that even fender snobs could find a sound they like.

channel 2:theres a solo boost knob w/a three position gain style switch above it i not sure how that sounds yet because the foot switch that comes with the amp wasn't in the box.chris sent one out to me and should have it tomorrow since we only live 30 minutes away from each other.theres a master volume w/a three position gain style switch above it,also has bass/mid/treble/ gain 1 gain 2 with 3way bright switches above each channel.lets start with the gain style to the left this seems seems to be voiced darker smoother with more lower mids than the other two voicings, it is very reminicent of john sykes tone! middle position on the gain style switch holy shit!!there is a significant jump in volume.take the blue channel channel of the ecstasy add more balls and punch.this is a incredible rendition of a great plexi channel.this channel seems to have a tad more harmonics than my bogner but i need to install new tubes in my ecstasy.it is bigger sounding than the ecstasy blue channel and a little more up front.i not taking anything away from my ecstasy it is the best multi channel amp on the market and still inspires me to play after 14yrs!this voicing for me nails ac/dc back in black tones humble pie fillmore tone and van halens tone during the club days if you heard any of the early bootlegs.very woody/rich/open/punchy/and reacts to your picking technique.

heres the kicker even when the gains increased on gain 1 and gain 2 the guitar cleans up beautifully amazing!! side note i keep the bright switches above g1 and g2 in the middle position.unless you play really loud with the gain granked then you can add some brightness if needed,it adds some extreme upper frequencies w/rich harmonics.

now the gain style to the right position, this is the cameron sound!mark has taken his knowledge and knowhow of all the jose mods he has seen, played and worked on and perfected it making it his own.this amp nails that you really got me sound on the first vh album and all the dlr era albums depending on how you dial it in,it also nails lynch, jake e lee or any great modded marshall sound you remember from the 80's.to the best way to describe the cameron sound is bass that is very punchy/woody/tight and loose at the same time midrange that has alot of gain harmonically rich and is extremely articulate meaning no matter how high the gain is set the notes ring out crystal clear which allows you to cut through the mix in a live band situtation (very important!)like a ginsu master.

midrange that is fat and mean as a junkyard dog w/rabies and a searing top end that is unique it has a quality to it that reminds me of the sound of a silver quarter compared to a regular quarter when dropped.notes seem to explode off your pick with an extremly quick attack time harmonics jump off the fretboard.roll that all together and you have the meanest sounding marshall on the planet that sound's like its about detonate. well there you have it folks i hope this helps any potential cameron owners who have never had the pleasure of owning or hearing a cameron. cant wait to get my ccm-100!

man,i hope he didnt use Crisco oil... :aww: ...Florence Henderson wouldnt have approved of it!

"Jose Mod"  How much better can this get? Yes,Jose Arrendondo did mod Edward's "Plexi" amp... The end result of Jose's "mods" basically ruined the sound of Eddie's Plexi amp! To rectify the "shoddy" workmanship done by Jose Arrendondo,Eddie had his personal tech (Matt Bruck) take his "Plexi" to Guitar Oasis. The Guitar Oasis technician who restored Edward's Plexi amp was Guy Hedrick.Upon inspection of the amp,Guy discovered that Jose had removed all of the "mustard" caps, made questionable circuit changes, and for some reason-he removed the original transformers? Guy Hedrick completely reconstructed Edwards "Plexi" amp from "ground-up" to include (Guy Hedrick made) "cloned" replacements of the original transformers. This work was done PRIOR to the Van Halen debut album recordings. You are NOT listening to a "Plexi" that was "modded" by Jose Arrendondo!
I discussed this with Guy just yesterday...(I hope I get this right?)
From Guy: "Edward's amp was brought to me by Matt Bruck.Matt said that Edward had the amp modded by Jose Arrendondo, and the amp sounded worse than it did before Jose modded it.I rebuilt Edward's Plexi to the exact original stock Marshall specifications.Jose made some circuit changes, removed all the "mustard" caps(?),and for reasons unknown...he removed the original transformers? I ended up replacing the Drake transformers (installed by Jose) with transformers designed, and wound by me.I did however tweak the plate voltages (I think he said 370mv?)...and that was it.Edward runs a Variac at 95 volts".
This is no way an attempt to slander Mark, but an attempt to set the record straight. This whole "I found Jose's notes on Edward's amp" story is just so ridiculous! But I guess it sells amps? Mark's mods stand up for themselves.I don't think Mark needs to resort to "fiction" to sell a quality amplifier. One of my biggest mistakes was selling my Cameron modded Carlsbro 100... I sure do miss that amp. It's great that players love their CCV-100 amps... Maybe Mark will wise-up and take credit for his own designs, and stop paying homage to a "hack" like Jose Arrendondo!
I have two of Guy's GT100 amps now that have his "Plexi" cloned transformers. As soon as I raise $5,000.00...I'll have Guy Hedrick build me a 1968 Marshall "Plexi" clone-to the exact same specs.
I'm trying to find a dealer who has the CCV-100 in stock also... I guess it's going to be a while before we see any in stores?

Wow. I have read some wacky stuff on the internet...... but this is right up there. Matt Bruck brought Eddie's amp to Guy Hedrick before the first album to remove the Jose mods? Thanks for setting the record straight. Holy crap I am giggling myself silly. Guy Hedrick worked at Guitar Oasis before the first Van Halen album and Matt Bruck was his tech back then at what 11-12 years of age? Holy crap, still giggling. Matt Bruck might have been Eddie's paper boy back then.

Dude seriously. Your setting the record straight sounds like the game "telephone" that you play as kids where someone tells a short story to one kid, who then tells the same story to the kid next to them, who then tells the same story to the next kid and so on and so on. And by the end the story is so mixed up it is downright laughable. It's just that in your game of "telephone" and you "setting the record straight", several of the kids in between you and the original storyteller had apparently been dropped on their heads as children and several of them didn't speak English. Other than those obstacles I'd say your game of telephone netted us all a pretty good laugh and one of the most historically inaccurate and hysterically inaccurate accountings of all time. Thank you very much!  And if this is all from Guy Hedrick, verbatim, not a single fact distorted in your telling of the story, please tell him to open the window and turn on a fan before he solders anything else.

And if you think Jose's mods sound horrible, you may want to take a listen to John Sykes on the fairly recent, live Thin Lizzy album and you may want to have caught a few of the shows that Joe Holmes played as Ozzy's guitarist because both of their tones with confirmed Jose mods in their Marshalls sound freaking amazing. $5k for a '68 plexi clone built by Guy? And you were saying Mark Cameron resorts to ridiculous stories to sell amps?

Oh man, I just read your story again! I am so glad I still have bladder control :D You RULE dude, I swear you make the Cameron forum the most fun forum on here! You crack me up all the time, but your best one may have been asking if Mark could mod your XBOX 360 and if so would it take less than 2 years. I laugh about that everytime I turn on my 360, which is unfortunately still stock.
