Another "clean up" thread...velcro goop...how to get it off?

So I was going to replace some velcro on a pedal I owned...stripped it off and all this goop is left over. What do you guys use to clean up accidents like this and is there a safe velcro to use on pedals that will not create such a mess next time? I imagine it was the summer heat that melted it like this...thanks...

Goof off or lighter fluid should work.

Goof off, but watch out when using it depending what the finish is under the goop. If it's a gloss finish it just completely kills it, the stuff is strong.

ACETONE if you want to be brutal. rubbing alcohol works just fine though.

With regard to the question how to avoid ... there was a smart tip in another forum.

Simply make a small hole in the velcro tape and use the screws fixing the base plate insteag of a glueing.
