So a while back I had picked up a Crate V33 all-tube head because it was uber-cheap (I think it was the MF STOTD) and pure class A. Sounded dark; I put some high-gain Ruby 12AX7's in it and it really came to life. Then I stumbled upon a page where someone had noted that the circuitry on the V33 was rather similar to the SLO100 and went so far as to document a mod for it.
I started working on it today but had to stop because I've somehow injured my hand (pulled tendon or something). I only replaced R7 and R11 so far but WOW!! Just a touch more gain but about 50% more treble. Can't wait to hear this thing when the mod is complete, and yes, I will post clips.
