Congrats! You'll likey. The clips I posted were pretty raw, no post fudging or EQing whatsoever. It is a tricky amp to record though. Definitely had to use different settings than what I was liking 'in the room' but I'm sure you'll figure it out. That resonance knob on the back is a blessing, nice touch!!IndyWS6":3mhrobqr said:I ordered one from Brad earlier this morning. Anxious to see what it sounds like with my feeble skillz![]()

I hope so - taking a chance on this since there aren't any close to me to test prior to purchase. If I hate it, your clip is at faultRockNRun":6fj6s6jw said:Congrats! You'll likey. One tip I've read numerous times turned out to be very helpful/accurate...try lower to med output pickups, avoid (if possible) Alnico 2 as well. Sounds odd, I mean you'd think a high gain amp should be able to react great with damn near anything you throw at it, but not so with this thing, seems kinda delicate by design. I tried a guitars with a JB and Tone Zone and they both sounded pretty bad! The Air Zone (17k+)is my favorite with my other amps, but crikey, it was pretty scruffy with the 5150 miniThen I hit it with an old Super Distortion and also a Custom 5 (both around 14-15k) and it was like night and day. Alnico 5 sound great with it, the lower the better.

Thanks!SFW":5g671qgb said:Happy new amp day! I love my 5150 III 100 watter. It just kills. Now I just need to keep saving pennies for the matching 412 cab.
Thanks!!! I've never heard a xxx in person, really can't say your thinking is right or not, lol! I'm going to try again today and use channel two with a pedal just for a comparison with the lead I did using channel 3. Sadly I got lazy when throwing down that little jam and stopped pretty much right where it is. A teaser clip will have to do!! Eventually I can see turning that idea into a full tune though and I'd no doubt try to play a lot cleaner while I'm at it!!tweed":5g671qgb said:Damn that clips sounds freaking great. This is making me rethink selling off my XXX and a few other things to obtain one.
You got me there. Never been fortunate enough to own a LP of any sort and every Ibanez I've had came with some sort of DiMarzio. You'll just have to try 'em and see. The amp rocks, it has just the right amount on tightness for chording as well as some VERY nice chew on the single notes for soloing. You'll love it - King Guitar has a ton of rediculous amps at his disposal it seems and he's telling ya it sounds amazing as well. There you go. Hopefully you've got something in the Greenback family for a speaker.IndyWS6":5g671qgb said:I hope so - taking a chance on this since there aren't any close to me to test prior to purchase. I'll be using it mostly with an RG770DX (stock pickups) and an Epi LP with a '57 Classic / '57 Classic Plus combo (4-wire push/pull split). Any thoughts?
Looking forward to giving it a spin...
That is soooo true about lower output pickups. My stock Axis sounds a bit ruffley thru this amp but my strat with a BBQ bucker sounds clean tight and crunchyRockNRun":191aizji said:Congrats!
