I have an original everything Jem77 BFP, w/ original HSC (I'll post some pics later today), The guitar is in amazing condition but for a fadded neck plate-- and I haven't kept up on the popularity of this guitar.

This is where you all come in... Pros/Cons, comments and suggestions-- anything to help me figure out if I should hang on to it, or sell it. I'm not sure about the current day value of these, as I can't find ANY like it on eBay currently for sale.

Thanks in advance, for your assistance

I always liked the BFP, and I still have a neck from one on a partso-soloist (is that even a word?) that I put together. The neck's a bit thin for me now though, my taste in necks has gotten chunkier over the years.

I'll give ya $500. Wouldn't mind having a Jem.

Definitely worth more than $500

To the OP, check out jemsite. Those guys will steer you in the right direction. This is a pretty highly coveted Jem over there.

Those floral print Jems seem to be pretty popular now. I think they sell for around $1500 ballpark in good condition. If anything, Jems are increasing in value, so I might hold onto it. Yours looks great, except that toggle switch in between the volume and tone knobs isn't original. Otherwise, a fine specimen!

One guy on the Jem site say that this particular model is worth some ridiculous $$$ ($5K-$6K) to the right buyer...

In shock... Still researching

Looks like a couple have sold recently on eBay for around $2500-$3500

Those are highly desired. U should get near 2k for it.

I am shocked to discover that it is one of the more rare collectable ones (300 made)... hehehe, I had no idea. Probably gonna unload it though.

It's not my thing

Haha cool you're on RT too? Yeah i would throw it up on feEbay for like 2500 start and see where it ends up.

You should get $1500 without a problem. That toggle may dampen the sale a bit. I have the original Green FP and would never off it. Just a great piece of Vai history. Plus it's got the actual same material used on his living room curtains under the clear coat.

Pretty sure there were more than 300 made (the green floral one is the really rare one). I personally saw about 10 of the blue ones for sale at the two Sam Ash stores in my area alone during the 1st year or two, when I first started playing (I wanted one but ended up with an RG750 instead as I couldnt swing the extra $200 atthe time). If you'd consider it, I'd give ya $1,200 shipped for it which I think is fair (non original electronics and is $300 more than it cost new).

They were both mass-produced, there's nothing special about either model. The BFP isn't even floral fabric under clearcoat; it's just printed paper wrapped around the same old mass-produced production-line basswood body.

Seriously guys, wake up and smell the marketing. The FP and BFP are playable lightweight stable mass-produced solidbodies made of inexpensive wood with great hardware (love the original Edge and the PAF Pros). Nice snappy-sounding lightweight guitars built for stability during whammy acrobatics. But they're about as "special" as any other mass-produced CNC-cut basswood solidbody.

The guys at the Jem site say it should fetch $2k+, and eBay completed listings seem to confirm that, but thanks anyway

Ya, been here since the beginning.

It's a $2.5-$3K guitar all day long in good condition. You should still easily get around $1750+ with the mod.
I was offered $2600 recently for mine and it's well worn but all original...it's still one of my main gigging guitars though (in fact, it's far and away the best sounding Jem that I've ever laid hands on...and I've owned/played a lot of them) so it isn't going anywhere.

Sweet.

Well at any rate, if was you, i would throw it up on eBay with a $2000 start bid auction style.

The last few Jems have gone for increasingly high prices so i think you could get 2k+ for it on ebay. Just keep in mind that final value fees are 10% + 3% pp fee!!! ( :( )

I sold my BFP for like $1650 last year. It was in decent shape.

I must say that is my favourite JEM. I'd do $1500 plus shipping, drop me a line if you are interested in trying to work something out, if not best of luck with your sale.

That's why I'd unload it for the $$$ and pick up a Suhr. :D
