Hi to the good people here on rigtalk... All thanks on the recent post on the new multi watt dual rectifier... I was wondering if it's really the amp to getta good tight thick aggressive sound of the dual rect ....

Does it supercede the old and famous rev F ? In terms of how thick and 3D the tones be? Would it be super fuzzy on the high end ?

Am a VHT camp by heart but I was thinking if the new DR multiwatt wouldn't dissapoint me?

Give me ya thoughts please... I always thought I like the CC vile album in my opinion the tones are great for modern death metal... I think the CC uses the DR much on their albums...?

If you use the right boost, you can get as thick and tight of a tone from the MW as you can from any other amp, yep.

Is it better than the Rev F? Well, I’m sure some people prefer one and some people prefer the other. You’re probably better off looking for clips that compare these amps or something.

i did checked out few clips off from youtube... rev F vs Multiwatt... what i can hear is the Rev F sound more mid forward and its less of the hair unlike the multiwatt is more scooped still tight but more hair or fullness in my opnion , i cant do a hands on test on these amps from where is resides ... but my buddy has a rev G which is way off the milestone of what a recto should sound....

The problem with this comparisons is, that no amp sounds the same, even if they are from the same lineage. This is even more true with old amps. Components start to drift with time.
Another thing are the tubes. Were this comparisons made with the same brand of preamp and poweramp tubes?

The MW is a very good amp that fixed a lot of the complains the older 3 channel rectos had. Those nuances you are hearing from YT could easily be attributed to tubes etc.

If you can’t find an F to purchase, a Dual MW will get you very close to that tone.
Thanks buddy but talking the Rev F Vs MW... With my background with da VHT tone primarily will I prefer the rev F more than the MW ?

Am looking at less fuzzy highs not sure which is a better choice... I know the rev F is hard to comeby with the very few serial number of 00300 till end of 00300 ? Only few hundreds were made of not wrong...?

Have they updated something, or do you mean the same multiwatt they've been making for like a decade?

The F started in the 600s, I believe and went up to 3000 or so. Serial number-wise that is.
The F is going to have a little more clarity, 3D tone vs the MW so if I can pick only 1, I’d go with the F.
But they are hard to find; and a MW does a pretty good imitation. But a straight comparison I’d go with the F

Saw an “F” listed on Reverb today, guy is asking 4K?!
Great amp, but not for that kind of money.

I’d spring for a Tremoverb. Great amp for the money.

This^^^
If you want spend $3500 plus on an F, search one out. If not, get a MW. Considering the difference in price, the MW is still a killer and will get you close enough.
There’s two F’s on Reverb for $4000, a Dual and a Triple. If you really want CC tones, move on that Triple, that’s what they use.

3.5k to 4k seems to be high for a F.
Here in Germany they go for around 2.5k and the Mesa gear is usually more expensive in the EU. 2 Months ago I was able to get an RevF rack version with chrome chassis for 2.4k. If you are patient, better deals pop up than those you mentioned on Reverb.

To the OP. The F sounds rawer than the MW which is more polished overall. But you get one channel more plus a nice clean channel with the MW whereas the F cleans are ok at best. For gigging I would easily choose the MW. For pure fun and pleasure it would be the F.
You can tame the additional fizziness in the MW with tubes that run at a higher bias.

It’s is definitely high, but that’s what most of these clowns over here are asking these days.
Obviously better deals may pop up if your patient, but they are very rare anymore.
If you can get one for 2.5k, hook a brother up.

Didn't Peterc52 sell an F for 6K not too long ago? He's over in Northern Eu.....These early Rectos are getting as valuable as a mid 60s Marshall.

I can hook you guys up all the time as I have my eyes open on this thing. But remember it`s going to be the 230 Volt EU version.

The last F Triple I had was Eu voltage. I used a step transformer; worked great.
