Any issues with the MXR Carbon Copy?

I'm gonna go snag one after my wife gets home from work. I tried one yesterday. I A/Bd it with a Mod Tone delay and preferred it. I bought a Digitech RP355 but it sounds like ass through the Elmwoods loop so back it goes and I'm gonna snag the MXR as I preferred it to the Mod Tone pedal.

I'm running the MXR CC in front of my VHT UL and I'm loving it. It's the first delay I've ever been happy with. Great sound to it, no irritating digital sound, full and warm. Does everything I need. Killer for Pink Floyd stuff or to have set as a main slap back.

You actually get away with running it out front??? Every delay I've ever heard that I liked was in the loop.

I'm not much of a loop guy, you might prefer it there, I don't know. I mainly use it for my clean stuff anyway so it's no big deal. Awesome pedal either way.

no problems with mine, using it in the loop of my Herbert. Sounds great. Usual excellent MXR mechanical robustness. Sometimes I'd like longer decay/more repeats out of it though. Before buying it, I had read something on the net about certain models that had a faulty chip or some crap like that, causing lots of units to be DOA. No problem with mine though, and that was when they'd just come out, so I suppose newer versions would not have any problems at all.

Go for it!!

Probably not as nice as the MXR, but I've been using the Line6 Echo Park and I think it works pretty well. I use it in the loop on either the "analog" or "tape" settings to thicken the sound a bit.

Before you go buy it, double check this thread / link here... viewtopic.php?f=6&t=56988

Fullscale Online has a Rig Talk Coupon for 25% off of the Carbon Copy's price.... So its down to $111.75... All orders over $100 are shipped for free! That's cheaper than some people I'm seeing online selling the CC for used!

I don't like the Carbon Copy. I tried it in the loop of my Fortin and i could hardly hear it. I turned up the send and return knobs of my loop but still, the delay wasn't really noticeable at all.

A delay like the Carbon Copy will work ok into the input for lower gain and clean stuff but not high gain.

Sounded good through the Vintage Modern they have. I just hope it rocks through the Elmwood.

Hmm, I'm going to have to disagree with you on this. It is killer for high-gain stuff. Really smooths out all amps I've tried it with when placed in loop, series or parallel(Recto, XTC 101B, Mark IV, Carvin MTS, DSL)

Maybe you had a defective unit? :dunno: If anything, there may actually be a very slight volume increase when the pedal is engaged. Not sure why you couldn't hear the delay. OP, I say go for it! It's a solid pedal that sounds great and the modulation is very nice sounding as well. :) Also sounds great in front after od/dist pedals

What does the modulation button do? Give it a chorus like effect?

Yes, but it is very subtle. The chorus effect is only on the delays, not the original signal. You can actually adjust it by taking the back plate off(tiny switch inside).
Sounds great as is though

+1

I have the same issue i.e. I cant mix enough of it in with the original signal.....just not wet enough.

I swapped over to the Time factor and have been far happier with that.

Yes, i couldn't get enough signal in my loop from it. I see that Jim bought and sold one already. Iv'e tried everything and I'm happy with my Timeline.

It's an Analog Delay...in my experience Analog Delay Pedals ALWAYS sound better IN FRONT of the amp.

Digital Delays sound better IN THE LOOP.

That being said...It's a great delay pedal!

the problem is there are better pedals with more options for same price range... hardwire delay, the analog on that is excellent, but i like the mod delay on it.....

Man, I totally disagree. I think virtually all time based effects sound better in the loop, analog or digital.
