Any Jimi/ Trower players here?

I'm in! Alvin Lee and Rory Gallagher as well. These guys were the "soul surfers" of guitar. 80's players were "contest" players.

I was a huge Trower fan in the 70's. Hendrix too. I had listened to BOG so many times on 8-track that for years I still 'expected' certain songs to fade out, hear the 'kachunk', then fade back in where ever they changed tracks on the 8-track.

Easy to get lost in a tone like that. (y)

This..no 8 track for me, wife bought me the BOS disc about 10 yrs back and it's in steady play. Hendrix-I go through a brief phase twice a year or so where that's all I listen to and then go back to the heavier stuff. Also Travers, old ZZ Top etc...good stuff.

All this gear is gone. I was testing an Analogman BART ge Fuzz. Rockitt Retro '76 50 watt w/ 6550's, Jeff Beck Strat, Sabbadius Fillmore East Funky Vibe

I could listen to hours of this. So dam cool. Needs to be a soundtrack for a scene where the hero has to navigate through the scariest, most dangerous part of town with all sorts of bad dudes lurking about.

Trower's Bridge of Sighs was so freaking massive when it first hit.
Even though Jimi had done that tone for years there was something about
Trower's songwriting and Dewar's vocals that made it sound new to lots of ears.

Yup.

I saw RT several times in the '80's at the Thirsty Whale in River Grove, IL. Good times.

Hendrix was a huge influence on me from a chordal standpoint. I'm not much of a strat player though.

Your clip sounded great.

I always think of it on NYE or New Years Day for obvious reasons. My favorite Jimi record for sure.

I learned lead guitar from Robin though. Robin Trower Live (1976) was my introduction to fast-ish lead playing. He ripped all over that record.

Killer playing and tone OP . They’ve both influenced me a bit especially Jimi’s music in general . Love Robin’s music too , saw him in 2001

Sorry for the side bar but all this talk of Trower...

I wish I had a picture of my expression the first time I heard this as a kid.

Funny how a great bluesy/Rock player has that influence....I messed with 80s shred stuff when I was younger but finally turned a corner after I bought Gary Moore's Still Got The Blues....I played to that CD for a good 6 months.

I was already a Moore fan when I had to learn that song for a cover band gig.

Spent a solid week getting every little nuance down and ended up being able
to nail the whole thing. Gave me a new level of appreciation for Gary breaking
down his bends and phrasing note for note.

If you ever want to give your clean channel a workout pick up Blues for Greeny
and jam to that.

It's like going to a master class on early British blues.

I was a fan after I randomly picked up Victims in 83, floored by how great a player he was...picked up every album after and searched out Corridors eventually. RIP Gary

That sounded awesome! I should give my fuzz pedals another shot.
That was a bit of amp gain mixed w/ the fuzz. If the amp had been clean, I wouldn't have got that sound. Add a Vibe and some reverb and there it is.
That was a backing track played thru my stereo and I jammed along.
