Anybody having good luck with JJ 6CA7's here as far as reliability? I was rolling some tubes yesterday in my Cameron Jose and thought I would give the quad a go. They do sound good, a little smoother and less sterile than the SED's. At 450PV, I had them biased up around 32mA and let them settle in for an hour or so. With the chassis out, and the amp at an "oh shit" volume, I could see the tubes pulsating light with every deep note and palm mute. They handle the gain well and have decent head room, but I have never really thought of tubes as "throbbing members"
and prefer not to see them reacting to every stroke on the strings. Makes me think they are near to shitting themselves and just won't last. I haven't seen tubes respond this dramatically and will probably go back to the trusty SED's today and button it back up. I just don't trust JJ's in some amps, no matter how hard I try to like them tonally. I would hate for one of them to let go and get tube jizz all over my Cameron....
